Used these for years under the worst conditions. Retired now, two new ones have fallen apart in less than two years.
For more years than I can remember I have used this brand of torch in my remodeling business as well as all over the farm. But eventually everything wears out. I ran through three of these in several years.I cannot tell you how many plumbing connections I have soldered with them. A year ago I bought my fourth. The first thing to go was the piezo lighter. I continued to use it, lighting it manually. I am retired now, so I use it much less frequently. Several months later, it is now completely dysfunctional. Soon, the button that holds the flame on stopped functioning. Then the main button that turns on the gas stopped. I threw it away. Something has changed. Maybe someone else makes them now. Maybe the materials in the head itself changed. But I cannot afford to keep buying them. So long old buddy.

"Regret is a form of punishment itself"
Here is the problem. The product was exactly what I should have expected. It is well built and works great. Now that I've use it, though, I regret my decision. The trigger start torch is definitely the way to go. Don't waste your money on something cheaper. Just start with this...BUT get one with an adjustable flame knob. This one doesn't have it. it's either full on, spiraling flame or it's off. There is no in-between. I loved being able to dial back the gas and have a finer, more precise flame for some jobs on my old torch. So, now I'm stuck, living with regret. I should have done more research and comparison.I'll get over it and find something to burn with the torch soon enough.

Piezoelectric Igniter Quit Working
I've used this torch about 10 times and the igniter quit working. Very disappointing since I bought this for the convenience of the igniter. The unit has been used and stored in the house and has been treated with care. I was going to replace the igniter but the screw that holds it in must have had thread locker on it because it stripped even with my best drivers.

Great torch, when it works.
We use this to start fires in a burn barrel and wood stove. In the summer it gets used probably once a day. In the winter atleast 2 to three times, sometimes more. There are 2 main issues, one is self induced. First, my kids sometimes see something shinny when starting a fire and get the nozzle and kneck too hot. The wire for the ignitor will melt and ground out. No more self ignite. Second, there are 2 filters in the handle that will clog. This creates a blockage and leaves the torch useless. I have gotten to the point that as soon as the flame starts gettingbweak, I will tear into the handle and remove them. We use the Colman camping bottles and usually refill them woth a 20lb tank. I don't know if this is a contributing factor, but I thought I would throw it out there. All in all, we use the heck out of this thing and replace it in the fall so we don't have mess with a lighter to start it in the winter. I am about to purchase another one tonight.

Igniter fails after a short while
I've used bernzomatic for literally decades and the older ones seemed to ignite and last a long time. The flame profile is great. BUT.....the last few torches have had the igniter fail after a few uses, making them useless (to me, anyway). These aren't inexpensive, so I expected better quality. So I avoid Bernzomatic completely and unless something changes and quality goes up, never again bernzomatic.

Disappointing
Like several other reviewers my Bernzomatic torch failed in about 2 years of very light, intermittent use. I have gone through only two bottles of propane. They are simply not made well. Not made to last.

Excellent piece of hardware (close to perfect)
The last TS4000 I had lasted about 20 years, and that was even while all those years I was quite abusive (stepping on it, dropping it, etc.). For example, it saw at least 10 Burning Mans, and if you've been out there, you know how rough that environment is, especially on metals. I thought it was going to just last forever--which it might have if I'd taken better care of it--but finally, the knob fell off and the starter popped out. It looked like some piece of internal plastic from the knob broke. Even though it did finally break, I never had any problems with this excellent product. You just push a button one time (very rarely twice) and you have this roaring torch flame that swirls so the tip remains cool to the touch! What's not to like?! Outside of maybe getting rid of the plastic button--a fault I consider too minimal to reduce this review even by a point--I can't imagine a much better product, so I'm buying another here!PS - The TS4000 does not have the flame adjust like the TS8000. Even though the prices aren't all that much different, I intentionally avoided getting the TS8000 because that knob is just one more valve and protrusion to break far as I'm concerned. Also, I have no need to throttle the flame for all my uses, including more delicate ones like steak searing or creme brulee carmelization, so the extra feature would not be worth the risk of it breaking far as I'm concerned.

Just Click for Instant Fire!
It just works. After my Bernzomatic TS839T gave up the ghost (after almost 15 years of regular use), I decided to upgrade to this unit. Boy am I glad! It lights trouble free and has a nice balanced heft. During the winter it gets used at least once a day to light the stove and after almost a year of use it hasn't given us a bit of trouble.A few additional notes:- Unlike with low-end propane torches, this one has no trouble when you have it running pointed downwards because its internal pressure regulation properly handles when liquid propane enters from the bottle. Cheap torches will burn incorrectly when they are being fed liquid propane.- It works with mapp gas just fine.- Personally, I find that it works better with the shorter/fatter camping propane canisters because it more stable when sitting upright.- This is actually my second one - I have one at the shop as well for brazing/silver soldering.

Great for cooking with
My husband searched for a blow toarch for cooking for a long time before settling for this one. It didn’t disappoint. He was really happy with the operation of it, the size and the safety features. He finished a steak using it and it didn’t taste of gas. Very happy. Would recommend.

this is my second torche like that and I love it, auto ignition never misses, very hot.
I would recommand that you do not leave the torche screwed to the gaz bottle Inside the house, my old one after many years has a very little practicly undetectable but still undesired leak in the house or garage, it only takes a few seconds to unscrew but keep the gaz bottle outside , this is my personal opinion, security first.

Great torch.
This is a well built piece of kit, you can feel the quality in your hand. I like the option to lock it in so you can have a continuous flame. I would say that Benzomatic is the leader in torches. Although it seemed a bit pricey at $65 CAD. However, I am cool with the price for the fact that its made in the US. Which is why it screams quality.

Blazing hot!
I bought this to weld thermocouple wire. This is ok and did what I wanted, but I should have spent a tiny bit more to get the next model up, which has variable gas flow control. This unit is either on or off. I should have checked hardware store prices before buying on Amazon, but nothing beats those nice cardboard boxes at my front door.
