FCP parts took to long to arrive so bought this. I was afraid that this wouldn’t be genuine, but after checking the seal and verifying the code online, everything was up to par after holding the starter in my hand. Product matches description and fit for 2008 528i. No problems and worked as expected. Looks like they updated the solenoid contact connection from a braided copper wire to a direct soldered metal contact.

Bit of a job to install as you have to remove the inlet manifold to get to the starter motor. The job went well and the Z4 is back. Time will tell on the quality, but so far after 700 miles and approx 40 starts experiencing no problems.

Bot this for 09 bmw X3. Tested it at Oreillys. 1st time it failed. 2nd test is passed. wasn't sure why. Went ahead and installed it. Sometimes it starts the car, and other times it doesn't. I can hear it spin but couldn't figure engine wasn't cranking. It turns out the starter shaft does not pop out to engage the motor consistently. The unit was obviously a return which Boesch simply tested it and resold it again. The job to replace start on X3 is a pain. Now I have to redo the whole job.

Not a Germany made part So, disappointed in that, the price reflects it's not a MIG part but a MIC It's got good start power It bolted right in Connections good Form, fit and function are good Time will be the test I removed a 190,000 mile OE made in Germany part and replaced it with this So we will see

My BMW X5 have always has a slow and long cranking start since I bought it used in 2013, look like it has an under powered and slow starter. In August 2019 the starter just died in my driveway fortunately the truck has 117k km. I removed the starter from the truck and opened it to see what was wrong and was shocked to see all the debris and dust inside the starter (no pictures unfortunately). The brushes was completely eaten and was rubbing on the springs and shorted the rotor. when I looked for a replacement from Bosch, it refers me to a different model that does not look like the one I have (different casing foot print) then I saw this model that look exactly the same, same size and actuator with the same number printed on the casting so I order this one although it says the part does not fit my 2011 BMW X5. When I receive the starter it was exactly identical to the one I removed and it fit perfectly. where it make the difference is when I started the truck the first time, it started the engine without effort and fast (twice the speed of the old one) just like it supposed to. Now my truck have never start this fast, I am very happy with the purchase.

Update: Over 1 year later and the starter is still holding up after consistent use definitely recommend it for the price So firstly the starter is made in china which isnt a problem but $280 is almost as close to an oem unit on fcp euro i only bought cause i needed it shipped fast which is 10/10 in that area got here in 2 days. If this thing gives out in a year ill be pretty mad noting its “bosch” and every bosch product ive had over 8 years. It works starts right up which is great but who knows for how long and ive heard that this amazon store labeled “bosch” is not authentic
