Excellent Product
This pedalboard is AMUSING, it has everything and more, I completly love it, it's portable, its tweak able to anything you want, the 24 bit AD/DA converters provide 16.777.216 samples at 44 khz wich means the signal reproduced by the processor it's exactly the same signal as the analog, to picture this better imagine a time line of 1 second then divide that time line in 1000 pieces, each little piece represents a millisecond, well this machine takes 16,7 millions samples of the analog signal in 2 milliseconds, there is no way possible not even for the most experienced person to find a difference between the sound produced by an analog pedal or this machine, so for those whom says "THEY DONT LIKE DIGITECH OR DIGITAL PEDALBOARDS BECAUSE THE SOUND ITS DIGITALIZED", well they are wrong, they need to accept the technology evolution, you can not compare in any way an old analog full of noise, wires, and poor sounding single array of stompboxes with this kind of technology, it's like comparing an old corvette from the 70s with a 2010 corvette. Also you can connect your SOUND MACHINE like I call it, to your computer and then upgrade it to the last fimware or download over 400 patches [...]or simply create via X-edit your own patch and download it to the pedalboard, very easy to use, it will takes you from 30 mins to 1 hour to be able to use it to the max capabilities, you can record direct to the pc because it's a high end sound card and you can use either the cubase LE 4 software provided with it or any other "studio like" software wich support ASIO drivers. So you got no limit on what you can do with this machine, I know you may say what about my suppa duppa tube 8500 us$ amp sound?... ok you can choose either going on stompbox/bypass mode and use the REAL sounding individual effects on each pedal meaning distortion/chorus/reverb/compressor etc, or simple improve and get a rich non boring sound with the presets/patch mode. The built-in expression pedal it's great you can also tweak the sensitivity to what ever you like, easy to create your own patch or set up any effect on the fly with the simple knobs. Several outputs for mixer/PAs/amps/loop connections capable/mp3 imputs/ noise gate,etc.. it comes otb with the fimware version 1.2 but you MUST upgrade to the 2.0 because they fixed several bugs and added a great and adictive 20 seconds Looper easy to use as well. The rp500 manual it's kinda simple but go ahead and download the rp1000 manual and read all the presets description and several other things wich are the same as the rp500 but explained deeply. The tuner it's very accurate, I compared the tune with any other recognized tuner like the Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner and it's the same, no flats or sharp notes. Some people say the distortions are not good yada yada... that's completly not true, if you don't like the presets you can always tweak any effect to what you desire... I could say the people whom say that, its just lazy people who wants everything done otb(out of the box) wich does not makes any sence for a musician. Overall this machine opened the pandora (of the guitar fx) box and puts in the hands of every young or experienced musician a very powerfull tool with limitless capabilities. I wish I could rate 10 stars.. if you buy this you are buying a world of godly sounding machine you won't ever regret and I bet you will replace all your old stuff with this only tool. Thanks for reading.

Digitech rp-500
I had to replace a korg A4 guitar processor that I had for years and the RP-500 caught my eye. I saved close to $50 buying it through Amazon so that was a plus. As far as the pedal, it's not an A4, but it comes close to simulating one, at least as far as I'm concerned. It's built like a tank. Metal cabinet, metal switches, so maybe it'll last s long as my A4 did. 99 presets, user and factory. More than I'll ever need. One thing I didn't like about it is that you can't go from stomp box to user preset mode without pressing a button with your finger. Something I have a hard time doing when I'm gigging. But the two modes are similar to the A4. With the A4, you could select a bank, select a preset, then open up that preset to turn the individual effects on and off. With the RP500, you can go up and down banks, change presets, but once you're in a preset, you can't access the individual effects without the press of a button with you finger. I can't wait until the warrantee is expired so I can turn the tap delay button into a stomp box/preset button. But, in stomp box mode, you can scroll through all of the presets. Only thing is, as you scroll through each position, that position is activated. But that's a small price to pay considering the advantages of the pedal. The individual effects are good. Everything I had and then some. The expression pedal can be used as a volume pedal, wah wah, or to control any programmable parameter. You chould change your chorus' speed, or mix level of your delay or reverb, etc. The unit has a usb port so you can work on your presets on your computer, and back them up. I only wish the software would run without the device connected. Maybe a software upgrade? As with any complex unit, there is a learning curve. I was able to use it the night I got it but have been tweaking it ever since. Then again, I was tweaking my A4 the entire time I owned it. Guitar players are never satisfied... Except in this case. Overall, I have to say I'm very satisfied with this pedal.

RP500 - Exciting Sound, Simple Set Up
I'm not an effects geek. I like it really simple. My previous set up was a series of stomp boxes. Need reverb? Stomp on the reverb pedal. Need delay? Stomp on the delay pedal. Need distortion? Stomp on the distortion pedal. My sound wasn't unique, it was BORING! But the effects were easy to use. I bought the RP500 after reading several positive reviews. And when I got it and hooked it up I loved the 99 preset effects right out of the box! I couldn't believe the sounds I got out of my guitar (ASAT Z3) with this multi-FX monster. The nicest thing is I can use it like a regular stomp box while performing. For example I can select a clean setting like "Acoustic Guitar" and make it gritty by stomping on the "DISTORTION" switch. If I want to add a little punch, I can stomp on the "COMPRESSION" switch. If I need a delay, I can stomp on the "DELAY" switch and then double tap "TAP TEMPO" to get the length of the delay. It's that easy to use. I don't have to think about it - it's so intuitive. It's easy to scroll through the 99 presets: just stomp on the "UP" of "DOWN" switches. Need a wah wah pedal? Put the volume pedal to the metal and presto! Instant wah wah pedal. For those who like to tweak everything to death - and you know who you are - this box has a USB plug and software to tweak every preset or create, and name your own 99 presets on your computer. That gives a total of 198 presets possible. The build is solid as a rock. Built like a tank, and has replaced my amplifier on stage. I just hook it up directly to the mixer, and I can hear myself though the monitors. No more lugging a hefty tube amp around! Did I mention I'm lazy? I bought the Gator small keyboard gig bag to carry this thing around and it holds the RP500 plus all the cables I need. The RP500 simplified my gigging life, and it made my sound a little less boring.

I Love It And Would Buy It Again
I’ve often been curious why DigiTech doesn’t make more fuss about their multi effects units. If you look at their social media presence and promotion, they rarely if ever discuss these units; it’s always the latest flavor of the unitasker FX pedal. I think this unit is fantastic. I was contemplating this or a Line 6 and when the price dropped to 199 I jumped on it. I used an RP90 before and loved the tones so I was happy to buy another DigiTech. “Dance with who brung ya” as they say. The RP500 takes the tones from the RP90 a step further. I’m not too much of a knob twiddler. Once I got my basic tone dialed in I ran with it and added a TS model for added distortion, all within the RP500. The variety of tones I get with just that and the guitar (Strat with Vince Gill drop in pickups from EMG) are enough to go from clean, clean with a bite, light distortion for rhythm, a little crunchier, and rock guitar solo. Plus the additional buttons add chorus, delay, reverb, etc. After using this several times a month for over two years, I can say I would buy this again. The only complaint I have has been stated before, and that is the manual isn’t quite as user-friendly as it could be. But there are plenty of YT videos to get you going, and once you get “into” the programming mode you are off to the races. Very easy to design your own tones from that point. And, check the DigiTech website forums for additional patches that can be downloaded for free. There are some amazing folks out there sharing their time and expertise. By the way, as an aside I had a problem with the RP90’s ¼” input jack. The unit was a few months out of warranty and DigiTech repaired it free of charge. Great customer service from DigiTech.

Great value, great modeling, but a few small issues.
First and foremost, this unit makes really great tones. I own an old Line 6 unit and this, and this is every bit as good in terms of modeling (IMHO). Lots of amps to choose from, lots of cabinets to choose from, and even the pedals are modeled against commercially available units. The flexibility is fantastic, and it really does turn your amp into not much more than an amp - all of the tones come from the unit. The noise gate is really effective. I have a lot of line noise in my practice room, and single-coil guitars routinely buzz when used there - but this noise gate does a really good job at canceling that without harming the tones at all. Good tuner, that will show flat notes if you want to tune up or down. Easy to use, too, and it bypasses the output while its on so you tune silently. Very nice. It appears to be very rugged, too. Heavy case, etc. Caveat: I've only used it for a week, so it's not as if I've had it on the road for a tour or anything. Durability is really something that can only be measured with time, but first impressions are strong. So, why not a 5? Three reasons: Documentation stinks. 30 pages of detail, but it really doesn't tell you how to do basic things like "if you want to have two tones right next to each other, so that you can toggle between them during a song, here's what you have to do..." You can figure it out, with time and patience, and at some point the whole logic of the thing becomes clear and you really can dig deep. It's complicated only because it's so rich with choices, but the method of changing things is very consistent, very "learn-able," and ultimately quite easy... once you figure it out. Better documentation, including perhaps a few YouTube (or Amazon) videos would go far. The wah-pedal is a nuisance. If you really use it, it turns on and off whenever you step down on it. It's also a bit small. If a wah (or volume, or whammy - it can do all three) pedal is your prime reason for buying this, it might not be the best choice. For me, it's not a big deal. The main reason: No power switch. Unbelievably, there is no on/off switch for this unit. The most basic thing in the world, and they don't provide it. To turn it on, you plug it in... To turn it off, you unplug it. Completely impractical, and over time it will cause wear. So, use a power strip that has a power button. That's an easy solution, but it doesn't excuse DigiTech from their obligation. This unit is a value, and it puts out great sound. But even a value unit should have a power switch. If you are looking for an easy to use (once you learn it) system with a LOT of modeling capability, this is a great unit.

VERY GOOD!
This Pedal is absolutely fantastic! The amount of effects that come with it is huge, the quality is amazing. Worth every penny! The Complete metal construction is very nice, I feel like I can throw it against a wall and it would be fine (not that i would). The only "cons" that I would give it is that 1. it doesn't have a drum machine, for me this wasn't a big issue being that I have an old RP150 that does, so, that's fixed. 2. The "expression pedal switch" Is a little too easy to switch for my liking, after a couple of days you get used to it, but its not as much of a "switch" like on a Cry Baby Wah or anything, it's more pressure sensitive, so sometimes just maxing the pedal out without extra pressure puts it into Wah mode. But again you get used to it. All around a great pedal, I would put down about 4.5 stars, but amazon wont let me :P Really impressed, I will recommend a lot.

DigiTech RP500 exceded my expectations
This is my fifth full size multi effects board. I owned the Boss ME-50 and then the ME-70. They were pretty good but I sing lead and play lead, and my big problem with those and the Zoom G5, which followed, is if you accidentally step on two footswitches at once while trying to go from a rhythm sound to a lead sound, you start wailing away but you might now be in tuner mode or some other bank with the wrong sound! I then tried the Line 6 Pod HD 300, and it sounded pretty good, but the learning curve was a little steep, and was almost $100 more than the RP500. I then remembered that the RP 255 that I once had was easy to tweak, although it didn't sound that great. I now realize that to get a real good sound from a digital modeler, you really should play it through a quality PA system, not the cheap combo amp that I had been using. I decided to try the RP500 because it doesn't have the "step on two switches at once for tuner mode" feature. The other reviews touted it's good sound so I bought one. It really does sound better than I expected. Don't get hung up on big name amp models and try some of the DigiTech original sounds. I don't remember the name, but one of them gives a very warm clean sound, and DigiSolo is a nice lead sound. For lead, I like the 808 tubescreamer model into the Fender Deluxe Reverb model with the gain dimed. There are an abundance of great delays, reverbs and choruses as expected. The one feature that is such a simple idea that I can't believe no one else uses it is that if you step on your lead patch and play your solo, to go back to rhythm, you step on the lead button again, and it toggles back to rhythm. No need to look down and find the rhythm button. If you're singing lead and playing fills, this comes in VERY handy! Overall a well thought out design, built ruggedly and MADE IN THE USA!

Good Sound Output, Okay Effects, Terrible Build Quality
theres no sound distortion using this pedal, no latency, doesn't mess with the signal or audio pan or anything weird like that, expression pedal works great, easy to program, great concept, the amps and cabs are alright, not amazing sounding and need a lot of ear attention to get sounding right. the reason for one stars is the build quality. the ring around the compression pedal stripped itself and i can no longer activate (or deactivate) compression without the button recessing into the unit. it would be an easy fix if the small nut had just become loose or even just the nut had stripped, but the stud around the pedal is what stripped. keep in mind DigiTech charges 200 dollars MINUMUM for any repairs. various knobs are losing their functionality, and the volume/gain editor knob fell off completely. i hardly use the pedal anymore because its just not worth it. if i could return it just to get it back to manufacturer and away from me i would just to feel my 200 dollars didnt go to a complete waste. i bought this thing for its looper and it really isnt all that good. i would regularly run out of recording time using it making me have to play riffs at a higher tempo than i normally would. tl dr : i regret this purchase, wish i had gone with almost any other multi effects pedal

Fantastica

All You Need!
I was looking for some guitar effect foot switchboards and tried out a few including the Boss ME-70 which i was almost sold on until i stumbled on the DIGITECH RP500 in a local shop. Although they didnt have one in stock, the display model looked pretty rugged and solidly built, much better than the ME-70 in design and build quality, although i didnt know what it sounded like. Anyway after a long and boring reprimand from a shop assistant mocking customers for coming in and trying stuff, then going home and buying it on the internet, i did precisely that! I was amazed how quickly they delivered since i placed the order on a Tuesday afternoon, it arrived the following day! Basically its a NO BRAINER. You set it up, plug yer git in and let technology do the rest. There are some 100 different effects to chose from which include all the usual delays, gain and cab selections, and a nice post effect adjustors using the 6 dials you can play around with each effect, so you get to really tailor your sound. I never bothered as the presets sound flaming awesome enough for me! Also there is an amazing BASS guitar included in the sounds library which is very useful for root notes and working out progressions at band practice. It will annoy your bass guitarist as all you need to do is tell him/her, "look it goes like this ok!'. There are 5 main foot switches on the rugged pedalboard which in normal setting adjust the compression, distortion, chorus, delay and reverb of your selected effect. In preset mode they can trigger up to 5 different programmed effects you have individually selected. So in groups of 5 into 100 you can select 20 different groups of 5 different effects at a time using the up and down switches which i must admit is wicked fun!!! The foot switches are easy to use and click at all the right times, no missteps or annoying false triggers, just a clean clunk and voila, you have your desired sound. I was most impressed with the built in expression pedal which doubles up both as a parametric and the most amazing WAH you will ever need. Yeah, its that good i disconnected my Dunlop. The WAH is very powerful and really helps with soloing too as it has a rich sound and can get the best out of any guitarist, rhythm or lead. I ran it through my BOSS BR600 but there is a headphones socket which is adequate. The only drawback is there is no drum machine, buy hey, with all these tools to play with you don't miss it, i can promise you! If you like Heavy Metal or Thrash this is the one for you as there are so many different gains to chose from, BLACK, MOSH, KILLER et al, and the SCI-FI one is which is weird. But it caters for EVERY STYLE as there are ssssso many different sounds on board even the most beautiful acoustic tones so if you want to improve as a guitarist the RP 500 is the one. There is also a built in tuner which ain't the best or most precise, using more/less arrows. I would've preferred frequencies instead but it works just fine. I recommend it, its solid and well crafted and just light and small enough to carry around in a small bag with yer guitar slung on yer back. What are you waiting for???? PLACE AN ORDER NOW, you wont be disappointed.
