Raincatcher 45 Rain Barrel

I've purchased a lot of gardening supplies this summer and I think this has been my favorite. I planted a pollinator garden with about 50 butterfly bushes, flowers, azaleas, etc. (One photo shows this work in progress). I love being able to water all the plants with fresh rainwater versus chlorinated water from the tap. I actually just purchased another one of these same barrels for the other side of my yard, where I have rhododendrons and other plants. The photos aren't impressive, but I wanted to add them anyway to show something. Near the top, there's a little hole for overspill when the barrel is too full. I usually keep a 10 gallon bucket there when it's raining and the overfill water squirts out into that bucket. It made me start thinking that at some point I might even like to create an entire irrigation system with these barrels. Anyway... I highly recommend this product. - It's lightweight and very easy to move when empty. - It takes only a few minutes to connect the hose and debris guard. - It does what it's supposed to. :)

I really enjoy having this rain water barrel it has saved me a lot on paying for water when I’m out gardening. The easy turn on and off valve that comes attached to it is a game changer, I loved it so much O purchased two of them, can hardly wait until Spring, only one thing I wish it was a lot bigger, but don’t let that discourage you it’s a great size I just like bigger products. Oh also it has its on sort of filter that stops leaves from falling into the water. It’s a lid that sits on top of the barrel. I really think this was a great buy for

I Ordered 2 rain barrels. One had a product defect and leaked. I contacted the company directly and they shipped a replacement immediately. The product works exactly as advertised and is an improvement on the earlier version. I particularly like the new placement of the outlet. The older version had it a couple of inches from the bottom so it was hard to get all the water out.

Very sturdy, good plastic, easy to assemble (the instructions were pretty bad, it took me a few minutes to realize that the plastic clip hooks to the valve end of the hose, then you push the clip into the small hole at the top of the barrel (on the side)....you know, that small hole that you think shouldn't be there? :) All I got in my package was: - The barrel - The hose - one end was just bare hose, the other had the screw-top. The hose had a metal screw-clamp attached. - The valve - this hooks onto the screw top - The clip - this attaches to the top of the hose where you screw the valve, then push the pointed end into the small hole at the top/side of the barrel. The clip is easy to miss - I didn't realize it was in there until I moved the barrel suddenly and heard something else rattle after I'd removed the instructions, hose, valve, etc. So, based on the reviews, some people are getting a hose with two screw-ends, where you screw one end into the bottom of the barrel, at the hookup, and the other you screw the valve onto - that's not so in my case. I got a screw clamp and one end was just bare hose, so I screwed the clamp on as tight as I could, but I was immediately concerned this was going to leak. Another reviewer who stated "if you hook it up right it won't leak" seems to have the hose with two screw-ends, so yeah, theirs likely won't leak. The day after I got it, we had a massive thunderstorm - it's currently holding a full 45 gallons of water right now with no leaks so far (I am going to keep checking). So, if you do receive a hose with a screw clamp, make sure that sucker is on good and tight...

Great product. Sits well under my high sprout. Holds plenty of water. Very sturdy material.

Barrel didn’t survive the winter. Bottom burst out. New Jersey had crazy cold weather. Tons of snow and rain. I couldn’t empty it before it froze. Disappointed it wasn’t made sturdier. It’s so thin.

What is the only thing a barrel needs to do? Not leak. Well, after having my fill of shoddy, off-shore manufactured rain barrels, I thought this one from Canada might be better quality. Set it up, started filling it from rain collection buckets, and when it was 1/2 full I noticed a significant leak! Darn it! Now the thing is too heavy to move without draining the precious rainwater (we are in California) from it. Too much hassle to return, so I'm going to try to patch the leak from the inside. But - NO QUALITY CONTROL - so do not, repeat, do not buy these! Update 1/18/26 - For any of you who have this problem (imagine trying to return one of these!), there is an easy fix for small holes. Sand the area near the hole and liberally apply silicone sealant. Screw in an oversized (relative to the hole) screw ("sheet metal" type) and it will form a good pressure seal. It worked well. Photos added. Note that I did not bother getting black silicone sealant... :)

We bought two, and they're doing their job nicely. After properly tightening the hose clamps, I haven't noticed any leaks. I've even drilled a couple of extra holes and added extra fittings to adapt them to our rain collection system, and I've connected the barrels so they fill from a single downspout. So far so good. In our rainwater collection system we also have a couple of other barrels and an IBC tote. At almost $200 CAD each, we found these FCMP Outdoor barrels expensive compared to our other containers, and in fact we almost returned them as we were setting the system up, but then we discovered that with their slim profile they fit perfectly where we needed to put them, and they look half decent too.

The price was really good and this rain barrel is great. It has a nice big opening to catch a lot of water and it also has a grate to catch debris. The connected hose is also nice to have to fill watering cans and it is also well built. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

The cheap plastic piece that holds the hose to the top of the barrel snapped when I put it on, hose just hangs out on the ground now. Otherwise the barrel itself does what it's supposed to do.
