I'm never quite sure when one of the "cheaper" versions of a precision tool will be thrown out or used over and over after buying. Regardless of reviews, I've had winners and losers. This is one of the winners!I have been able to use this in so many ways, saw height setup, blade placement on my planer and jointers, etc. This is an excellent tool. It is exactly like the more expensive versions with all the bells and whistles. The magnetic base is so helpful.I don't make any claims as to the scientific accuracy, but for woodworking, this is one of those diamonds in the rough! Well made and will be used over and over.

great for the price

Some of the adjustments on this unit are difficult to make, due to sloppy tolerances. This leads to incorrect readings, so be sure to make duplicate readings and compare your findings for accuracy.

Accurate and easy to use.

The indicator seems to work fine. I wouldn't necessarily trust it for high precision work but it'll show at least variance in a workpiece. The base, however, sucks. It generally sticks to things fine but the adjustments are awful. It almost takes an engineering degree to figure out how to position it without loosening the wrong item and having the stand just fall apart. There is no point of semi-friction to anything, it's either fully locked or wet spaghetti. Frankly I'd buy a dial by itself and a decent base instead of buying this again.

Worked good for what i needed it for

Frustrated that my molded plastic inside was cracked and broken as if it was dropped. Needs better support for holding the measuring tool securely inside the case. Just poorly made case that could compromise the actual measuring gauge.
