For me, this is a very good price the build quality is very good and it is a versatile tool because unlike other gel presses in this price range, you can adjust the angle of the drilling. More than 2 inches of drilling would be nice, but you pay for what you get. It’s very nice and heavy cast-iron. And the performance is very good. The five speed function is also nice allowing you to drill through metals I have drilled through steel and as long as you use oil and a decent bit can get through pretty thick material

Perfect for youth group wood shop. Runs nice and quiet, easy to assemble, seems accurate, a nice budget friendly entry-level drill press with a stop to control depth.

My old one was 25 yrs old. Got this one, great price. Works well and was not all that problematic to assemble. Only 2 issues. the Chuck Key did not fit the chuck. The Chuck holes measured .250 and the chuck key came in at .222. Luckily I had one from the old press that worked. The other issue was the drive belt cover really rattled. I loosened the belts a bit as that was recommended. Didn't solve it so I used a clamp on it to keep it still. All in all, glad I got it.

Got this recently as part of a package deal (with the WEN 1x30 belt and disc combo sander) for hobbies and general home use. It is quiet, easily operated and has the speed adjustments I need for my stuff at home. It came needing assembly with the needed almost all the tools, and very clear directions for getting this done. Parts made of exposed metal came treated with either oil or cosmoline (smells soooo good) and these need to be cleaned off. The user manual advises acetone or similar cleaner for this. Setting up out of the box: The user needs to attach the press tower to the powder-coated cast-iron base (using your own wrench), the cast and machined-flat table to the press tower, and the drive assembly to the top of the tower. Once this is complete, the user needs to clean the mating surfaces of the chuck and spindle, then use a hammer to attach the chuck onto the spindle. I did this, tested the trueness of my chuck assembly, and discovered some wobble. A couple more medium whacks with the hammer, and the chuck was set nice and true. The table on mine was not squared to the drill bit axis. I used a long Philips screwdriver stuck in the chuck, handle side down, with a small carpenter's square, to get the left-to-right (X-axis) alignment correct. The indicators for degrees of tilt on the table should not be trusted out of the box. Luckily, the table is square front to back (Y-axis), as this is not adjustable on this model. I then adjusted the pulleys to the lowest speed, easily done with no tools. My impressions: Once set up, I was able to rattle off several small home and hobby projects that had been held up due to needing good, 90-degree holes made, including counter-sinking, using the chuck stop on the left side of the press. Get yourself some small C-clamps for holding work steady on the table (different hardnesses in the wood grain can can make pull your project out of alignment) and supply your own work light to shine on the project area, as one is not included with this model. *For the money* this is a good little beginner drill press that has met and, in some cases exceeded, my expectations. If you want more bells, whistles and convenience, spend more on another more expensive model. For occasional home and hobby uses, this is a great little press.

A great tool, works well

I like doorstops, doorstops like me and I like making doorstops. This little beast is a nice piece of kit for making said doorstops. The doorstops are made from 7075 and 6061 aluminum. I use a 5D doorstop hole maker and its done great with this WEN 8" drill press. Yes, I know, it's Chinese and everything, but the boots working at the WEN doorstop ++ maker factory must be very happy and cared for. It isn't a $1,000 drill press obviously, but it does the job, just like your cousin Eddie. It's a little rough around the edges, but it doesn't affect the operation. It's for light duty only AND it's highly portable. It's incredibly easy to put together and it was shipped securely, absolutely no issues. IF you're fabricating heavy duty tank armor, this isn't your drill press, but if you're drilling holes into doorstops; firmly placing you on the enemies of the state list, this is your drill press. You'll have to adapt and improvise a little bit cuz it's only 8", but it'll poke a hole perfectly. You may have heard that before but in this case it's true. I teamed this press up with a WEN WA0392 120V 15-Amp Momentary Power Foot Pedal Switch for safety and it also works great. Another nice piece of kit from WEN. I also use it with a bench grinder (not a WEN) and of course a DeWalt DWP611 router, essential for making doorstops. I just plug whatever corded tool (15amps or less) I'm using into the back of the pedal plug, plug that into my power source, stick it on the floor and use my foot to control the off/on function of the tool....hands free so to speak, much safer. So there you go, knock yourself out. It's well worth the $100 or so bucks for the drill and what, $14 bucks for the pedal? Well worth it. Highly recommend.

This is a very well built compact drill press that I mounted to my workbench. I use it regularly and it works great. The speeds are adjusted with the belts and it tells you what speed is best for different materials. I’m very happy with it.

Not good quality, motor is smoking

Busqué y vi muchas reseñas de productos similares y todos luce muy parecidos, incluso hay muchos de un precio muy bajo. Compré uno especialmente barato, pero por fortuna vi una reseña que muestra como la mesa móvil se deforma porque es de lámina. Cancelé la compra. Quedé gratamente sorprendido cuando recibí el taladro de 8" de Wen, bien construido, sólido, con una agradable presencia y suficiente para mi taller casero y las necesidades que tengo. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Excellent quality drill. Fit and finish exceeded my expectations for the price. Parts nicely machined and drill functions exceptionally well. Perfect sized drill press for garage workbench. Doesn’t take up too much space compared to larger sized drill presses. Highly recommended for homeowner/handyman use.
