Love This Drill Bit; Worked Great!
The DEWALT 1-Inch x 16-Inch Spade Drill Bit is a powerhouse! I used it to bore holes in trees, and it worked like a charm. The 16-inch length is perfect for getting deep into the wood, and the sharp spade design makes quick, clean cuts without any struggle. It’s super durable and holds up well, even when working with dense or harder wood. The 1-inch width gives consistent, clean holes every time, which was exactly what I needed for my project. Plus, it doesn’t overheat or dull quickly, even after extended use. This bit is a must-have for anyone needing a reliable tool for deep drilling—whether you’re working on trees, wood projects, or anything in between. DEWALT nailed it with this one. Highly recommend!

Very Sharp Bit
Only used the product a few times on harder to reach areas, breaching thicker wood. Worked very well exactly as a wood bit should, not to mention the thread hole near the head of the bit for running fishing string. A well made wood bit which was easy to use and well worth it for the price.

Tough bit
Drilling out a few very large oak stumps to facilitate faster decomposition. Went around 12" deep in some very tough wood. Got around 100 holes before switching bits. Bit still works and can be sharpened. Very happy with this Dewalt product.

Fantastic workhorse!
One of the best bits I have ever purchased. Slices through sheetrock, plywood, 2x6 boards, etc with ease. I'm installing EMT conduit and have to push through 14 inches of various material and this bit gets the job done! This is the second one I've purchased as the first finally gave away after many holes and encountering various nails along the way. Well worth every penny and much better to use a single long bit than to try and couple together a smaller bit with an extension. If you need a serious bit that will put in work and not let you down this is the one to get. Dewalt for the win.

Even the cheapest on the market is better.
I own many thousands of dollars of DeWalt tools, and this bit is probably the worst of them all. Bought to use on my drill press (I know you're not supposed to use 2 foot spade bits on them, but hundreds of perfect holes can't be wrong). The ad says nothing about use limitations, not that I would necessarily head anyway, but the packaging clearly states not for use on drill press, whatever right? I chucked it up, turned on my 40 or 50 year old drill, and even at the low rpm it was setup for this bit spun so out of balance that is was completely unusable for my purposes. I've done the identical hole boring project before using cheap spade bits from box stores, and finished this project same way. None of the other long spade bits are suitable for a drill press, yet I have three other brands that all work flawlessly, and cost about half as much. The wobble was less noticable in hand drill but I still wouldn't use it. Perhaps just a defective unit. If you're debating on buying thinking like I was to spend a lil more money and get a better bit, buy the other one

Excellent for drilling tree stumps
I originally bought Irwin spade bits but they would dull after only one or two holes. Theses Dewalt spade bits are much more durable and I can drill several stumps before they will eventually dull. They are easy to resharpen
