Perfect little pump for my portable AC!
Little giant indeed! I bought this to automatically pump the condensate from a portable AC in a half sunken basement, this thing works great! For my setup, I purchased a ⅝" hose barb to ¾" NPT fitting to route the condensate from the AC to the pump to make things a little nicer.

Excellent product... not great instructions
We made a room in our basement, which is otherwise unfinished, so we had a problem with dampness and a growing mildew smell. We got a dehumidifier, but had to empty the bucket twice a day, and we couldn't have it drain directly, because there is no drain in the basement, only an opening high up where the washing machine pumps out to. This little beauty did the trick. The dehumidifier runs all the time now, drains into the pump, and every once in a while, WHOOSH, the water pumps up to the washing machine drain, and out it goes. It was so smooth, and so quiet, that at first I wasn't sure it was working! So I put a few drops of food coloring into the reservoir, and waited. Suddenly, the clear tube filled with red water. A few minutes later, WHOOSH, it was gone. It is so quiet! I would give this pump a top mark, except for the fact that the instructions that come with it are written for a plumber, and I am a novice, so I wasn't sure what to do at first. There are extra wires sticking out that I believe are for some sort of safety shut-off if you use this on a boiler or something that could cause a flood. It wasn't clear - so I wire-capped them and ignored them, and it didn't seem to matter. Also, there is no way of hooking up the incoming hose to the pump, only holes in the top to stick the hose into. I spent an hour walking around Home Depot looking for some sort of solution... and in the end, all I did was push the end of the hose into the hole (in the photo, it's the hole next to the black output nipple), and hope for the best. Again, it seems to be working just fine. I would recommend this pump to anyone who needs to keep a dehumidifier going, and hates emptying buckets every day. Don't over-complicate it, though. Ignore the instructions. Take a hose from your dehumidifier (according to ITS directions), cut it to length, and stick the cut end into the pump. Make sure it runs DOWNHILL into the pump. Then attach a clear tube (read the size of the tube carefully when you buy it - 3/8" ID (inside diameter of the tube, not OD outside diameter) to the black nipple - don't forget to use a hose clamp! - and stick the other end in your drain. Plug the thing in, and relax!

Very Pleased!
Our AC unit is not near an easy outside wall and the 20+ year old drain (with many 90º angles) through our cement slab had clogged. We had a cumbersome bucket system that had to be emptied 2+ times a day to temporarily help, but were going on vacation in a week. A quick search alerted me to the fact that this solution was out there, and the reviews here convinced me to give it a try. I am *so* glad I did. This is a great device! Pros: 1) VERY quiet. I was afraid that we'd hear a leaf-blower-loud motor noise every time the AC went on. Not even close. Unless you are standing next to it, you wouldn't even know it was pumping. Plus, it goes on for less than 10 seconds at a time. I would venture to guess that you wouldn't even notice it if it were inside your living space (ours is in the garage). The only sound on ours is the trickle of water into the pipe where the washer drains - and you have to be standing right next to the drain to hear that. 2) VERY easy to set up. The hardest part for us was finding an outlet near the AC. The wiring for the alarm/shutoff might be a challenge for some, but it's not required for use. 3) Small profile. Takes up less space than the buckets we had for our temporary solution. Cons: 1) I'm wondering about durability, as a lot of the components are plastic. Too early to tell. 2) It says you're supposed to clean it out every time you change AC filters. The reservoir is pretty small and the placement of the unit is fairly precise, so it could be tedious to do that. I'm hoping that adding a small amount of bleach occasionally will keep the slime out of it. It doesn't come with the tubing required, but this isn't really a con because your tubing needs may vary. I used this: Watts SVIG20 Pre-Cut 1/2-Inch Diameter by 3/8-Inch Clear Vinyl Tubing, 20-Foot Length If you're not familiar with how your AC works, plumbing and/or low voltage electrical I'd recommend having a pro install it, but I can't give this little pump enough praise. UPDATE: July, 2013: Two years later & not a hitch. Still works as when I installed it. Go for it!

It’s a well made pump
It must be a well made pump because it’s replacing the one on the side of a furnace that was installed twenty four years ago. Perfect fit, quiet, handles 5 gallons of condensation a day.

Light, compact, easy to install.
It was an exact replacement for the old unit. The built-in failure float switch is a nice feature. The real age of the old unit is not known but based on the appearance of the inside it had been in service - and not maintained/cleaned for several years. The new unit is working well.

Reliable and quiet
This is my first experience using a condensate pump and I was concerned about the reliability as it is in a spot that would cause damage if it failed. I am very confident in the reliability now and have no concerns about failure. It is also amazingly quiet.

Fast delivery and Good quality
This pump will replace the identical unit that I use for our air conditioner. It is reliable and works well. Delivery was quick. Turns out my assumption that the old unit was broken was incorrect. I hadn't cleaned it after 9 years of use and it was loaded with sludge preventing the float from working properly. A good cleaning brought it back to life so the old unit is still in service. I decided the new unit will serve as backup in the event the old pump fails.

Works OK but louder than original from 14 years ago
On a cold November morning we discovered our furnace had quit - subsequently discovered that it needed so much in repairs, it made sense to replace. Our furnace contractor was quite happy for us to supply our own condensate pump since it was less costly than what they would have to charge us. The only drawback in this pump is that it seems much noisier than our old Little Giant, which could not be heard outside of the furnace room - this one makes a shrill sound that carries up the stairs. But it made it through the winter with no issues. It even came with a new check valve.
