I did a lot of research before buying this and I'm glad I did, I have severe heyfever and this unit has helped tremendously. The reason I picked this particular purifier is: 1. It has a very effective sensor which means you can leave it on all the time and it will spin up and down automatically to remove any pollutants present as and when required. This means it's quiet and energy efficient and just gets the job done without you even knowing it's there. 2. When you turn your light out at night, it automatically goes into nighttime mode, turning off the majority of it's lights (and dimming the remaining two) whilst slowing the fan down to the point where it is virtually silent (I can't hear it anyway). 3. It has a proper carbon filter not a impregnated sheet like many other machines. 4. It's filters are in the correct sequence to get the most life out of them and it also has an easily removable, cleanable (like a tumble dryer) pre filter to protect the main HEPA and carbon filters. Many competitors omit this reducing filter life. 5. Its just the right size. Big enough to be able to run very quietly during normal operation and clear a room quickly if you had to (for example burnt toast setting off the smoke alarm) and yet not too big to be crazy expensive. The consensus seems to be if you need a more powerfull unit than this you are probably better off buying two units than a bigger single one. 6. It is properly certified and Winix have a good reputation for building solid high performance machines which are great value. The thing that stunned me the most was just how sensitive and quick reacting it is. My partner had been in the garden and walked in the room and it pretty much instantly detected the pollen coming off her clothes and ramped up for a few seconds to clear the air then span down again. If I had to say anything bad about it, it's that it doesn't have a way to run in auto mode without having nighttime detection on. Because it's so hot at the moment we are closing the curtains which is sometimes leading it to prematurely go into night mode.

Do not buy the smaller air filters. I have A1AD, which is basically COPD. I'm very sensitive to pollution now, both outdoors and indoors. I used to have an older 2014 model plasma wave and it's still working strong but I couldn't take it with me when I moved. Being broke from moving I decided to buy a cheap £30 air filter with apparently HEPA and carbon filter (V important). However it became noisy, and the carbon filter got saturated very fast as there wasn't much of it. Aka waste of money and my health suffered. This is expensive but, like the last one I bought, as soon as I plugged it in, fresh beautiful oderless air. I'm not sure how effective the air monitor is compared to my older model it doesn't scream red and blow like crazy when I fart or anything, kinda disappointing. But it works and the design is nicer, smaller and more user friendly when changing filter or moving it. It's also quieter. This is a top piece of equipment. Looks it and feels it. The blue light also goes off at night and you can turn off the plasmawave for germs. Practically 0 noise even on normal mode. Very pleased.

This is a big beast but it can handle a lot of air. Well made and not overcomplicated to use. Seems to work very well. Very quiet at low setting.

Very effective in a medium sized room, especially if it’s also used by pets. Noticed a decrease in lingering dust and pet hair, sleep mode is very quiet! Very happy with purchase.

I've had a couple of air purifiers over the months and this is the best one so far. The design looks neat and I prefer it over the round ones. Overall a good size and not too bulky. Air purification seems to be working pretty good as we no longer smell the things we did before. I'm keeping the Plasmawave on all the time and it'll turn off automatically when it goes to the sleep mode. The dust collection by the pre filter is much more than I thought. It needs a clean every 2 weeks. But it's pleasure to clean it knowing that my house has less dust now.

I have recently moved into a new flat and unfortunately my neighbours down the hallway are heavy smokers. The smell of cigarette smoke has completely overpowered the main hallway and was coming through my door into my home. It was disgusting. I had bought a door draught excluder and applied some tape around the door to act as physical barriers to the smell, but it was still getting through so after reading positive reviews I purchased the Winix Zero-S model. I am blown away by how effective this product is. I have it a few feet away from my entrance door, so any smells that do manage to creep through are hoovered up by this machine. The smell of passive cigarette smoke has been totally removed from my flat and replaced with clean air. I could not be happier with the effectiveness of this machine for removing selfish passive cigarette smoke from my home. Highly recommended.

I have health concerns about this product. I suffer from asthma and my wife has had a severe cough for some time now so I purchased this so called air purifier (new from Amazon) as we live on a busy road to clean the air in our home and improve our health. Following the brief instructions to the letter I installed the filters in the correct order and switched the unit on situated in our lounge. After 20 minutes or so I became slightly "chesty" rattling in my breathing and my wife and I noticed the smell of plastic, she started to cough badly. I turned off the unit and removed it from the room, opened the windows in the lounge and went into the kitchen away from the unit to recover. Fortunately I had a Phillips 900 series air purifier that had arrived a day earlier and we had tested the previous evening to our complete satisfaction so closed the lounge windows after about half an hour and put the Phillips unit in there to do it's work, again satisfactorily. We need two units, one for lounge and one for bedroom so almost needless to say I have another Phillips on the way and this WINIX is getting returned and I wouldn't keep it if they paid me. I'd read the reviews on the WINIX and there are over 14K lots good, before I decided to order just so disappointed with the product. How many peoples health are going to suffer due to this substandard product.? I have absolutely no issue with Amazon as I think that they are the best company in the world, delivery, choice of products and pricing is generally great and they have probably too many products to get proper opinions of also I suppose manufacturers may change the product or process mid stream without anyone knowing, maybe fit cheaper substandard bits and pieces to what was once a great product IDK?
