IdeaNext 960P HD WiFi Camera Wireless IP Security Surveillance Network Cam Baby Monitor with Night Vision (White)

So far, I really love this wireless security camera. I watched the videos posted on Amazon, to help with set-up (which really did help because the included instructions are a bit cryptic) and got everything working. I would have given it 1/2 star less, due to the app and lack of help menus, as some settings are more trial-and-error to decipher what is best. BUT for general set-up and alerts, you just choose the settings you want from the list, hit "done" and you're good to go (once you pair the device and add it to your network.) Note that during set up, you leave the user name as "admin" which automatically pops in, and the password, you just leave blank - don't enter anything. LATER you will be prompted to go back and put new names/passwords in. Also, it asked for the device code during set up, which they say is on the bottom of the unit - but there is a code that you can scan with your phone on the back of the unit - which my android phone eventually read/scanned. So there is just a little trial and error until you get it up and running. Alerts go to my phone; there is a way to get them to go to e-mail too, but this I have not yet figured out. Note: the video/photo feed from the camera was terribly crooked - until I realized the camera itself can be turned in the housing, to make it straight.UPDATE May, 2019:Camera no longer working, it stopped connecting to the internet after less than 3 years of use. Warning signs included reconnecting to the internet weekly (for about a year!) and then stopped connecting all together, and would not show in the app. Removing and reinstalling camera (within the app) did nothing. It is now going into the e-waste pile :(

A year after purchasing this item, it ceased to work. At first, thinking it was a faulting charging cord, I replaced the cord and tried a different charging block. Unfortunately the problem must be in the wring of the camera itself.Prior to the camera breaking, I would plug it in and unplug it each time I left the house. Due to how cheap the camera was, I did not trust the security so it was unplugged when someone was home. Perhaps this constant plugging and unplugging was more than the product was designed to handle.The set up was also very difficult to follow and set up. The instructions were poorly translated, but once it was set up, the camera would autoconnwcr upon plugging in. Prior to it breaking, this camera did what I needed it to do. Quality is what you would expect from a cheap camera, but not bad.

This is a nice little camera, with a couple of flaws.PROS:- really cheap- it does work and provides decent video quality- it has various customization options through the appCONS:- instructions are quite confusing- no native software to view stream on Mac (see below for workaround)- the sound quality of the camera "voice" is terrifying. When it speaks it is extremely loud.Because I found the setup quite difficult, I'd like to make it easier for others by giving a few tips I've found out the hard way.SETUP:The first thing to do is to put together the item itself. The instructions to do that seem pretty clear, so I won't dwell on that. You just have to insert the black body into the white housing, connect the micro USB cable into it, then turn the body into the housing. Connect to power.The tougher part is understanding how to figure out the connection setup of the camera.- The camera will speak and say it is waiting to connect.- If your network is password protected (it probably is), you will need to work through the app to make this work.- Download NetCam on your smartphone/tablet. I used the android version and in my case I had to then tap on "Add Device" and then tap the last option with the green wireless logo (Wireless Configuration Wi-Fi). Note: the instructions report a different name for the option, but it is that one.- Enter your wi-fi network's password -- that your device is connected to also -- and wait.- After it is accepted, the phone/device will make some noise, get it closer to the back of the black body of the camera, so that it can be heard by it.- Once the camera is connected, it will say so. Then, you are done!TO STREAM ONTO YOUR COMPUTER (Mac/Win):The specs of the camera report that Mac isn't supported to watch the stream, so I was a little bummed. However, while looking at the answered questions I was able to see that a user asked for the steam's path. I was very excited to find this, because it finally allowed me to stream on my Mac!What you need:- VLC (free download, look it up)- the IP of the camera (you can find this through your router or if you have android devices download Fing: it'll tell you the list of devices on your network and their IPs)Once you have installed VLC, find the "Open Network" option in the menus (in Mac it is under File). There, paste the path of the stream, which will look something like this: rtsp://IPOFTHECAMERA:10554/tcp/av0_0 (put the IP of the camera instead of IPOFTHECAMERA, of course). Click open, and you should be good to go!I hope this helped someone! Cheers.

Don't waste your money. This camera was always temperamental, requiring numerous resets when it decided to go offline. Finally, after a month of this it quit altogether. Right around the deadline for returning it to Amazon. Thanks, jerks. I sent an email off to product feedback. Naturally, I heard nothing. This camera is a piece of something that I'm sure I can't spell because the censor filter will take it out. But you know what I'm talking about. Rhymes with bit.

Affordable camera that does all it needs to do. We had an expensive kid cam that kept breaking and needing to be replaced. I was fine fed up with it and decided to look into drop cam. In the process I found this one and took the chance to try it out. Great decision! Easy and secure setup, great view and able to network in remotely if needed. We are buying more to add as a pet cam and door cam.

Documentation was out of date and out of sync with the app, so I couldn't get the app to recognize it. Since the camera must bind with the app, rather than other IP camera apps, I couldn't use it and had to return it.

Great camera with very vivid capture. Wish there wasn't so much static when trying to use audio. Also the voice on the device when it connects is very loud and cannot be turned down or off. The instructions are a bit difficult to understand but overall this device is great once it's all set up. Amazing device for the price
