The Log Cabin: Homes of the North American Wilderness

I really like this book. It's presentation is terribly authentic. These are the American log cabins which are not as stylish as say the Swede/Finns designs. My relatives on my mother's side were raised in structures like these in rural West Mississippi. It feels good to go back to your roots. This is definitely a keeper for the serious log cabin archaeologist. You can really see the evolution of the log cabin along the American frontier past. Having become familiar with the text I feel a little more confident if not inspire in my quest to become proficient with building the modern log cabins . Sometimes you have to study the past to gain insight into the modern or present state of the art trends. The author gives the Swedes the credit for bringing the log cabin to the American frontier. but, the research show it was indeed the Finns who were the first to bring the technology to America.Regards,Der Student

Great book on Log Cabins! It has both great pictures and the history of the construction of Log Cabins. I was surprise when it was a hardback book; I expected a paperback.

If you love log cabins especially original cabins that are very old this is a book for you. What a wonderful book.
