If i buy the 8tb model, can i disable raid and use the full the 16tb?

The 8TB model has 2 x 4TB drives. You can reconfigure Duos to other RAID versions.

I am planning to buy a 12tb wd mybook. in case the drive has problem, will there be any local support service within the 3 years warranty period?

Not trying to take anything away from Amazon here, but if you have BestBuy's total tech, everything you buy from them has a 2 year warranty.

does it work with 220v?

Yes 100-240V, 50-60Hz but you would need an adapter for the plug.

For recent purchase of 16tb version (or similar capacity), is it red, red plus, or red pro hdd?

that depends on exactly which you bought. one of mine is purple for surveillance but i also have several green and white that work fine also. although the quality and longevity is supposedly different based on price, i have gotten 3-6 years out of any i've ever used.
