Rothco Canvas Water Bucket - Durable and Portable Container for Carrying Water, Tools, and Supplies

Well made, tough, and spacious bucket (I got the large). I use it to carry my rigging and ropework tools to the maritime museum where I volunteer. A perfect fit to the traditional boat shop atmosphere.

This is used on a boat for rinsing deck. Long lasting and easy to use.

Seems to be good. A handy size. It will not store water as there is leakage but useful for dipping water for boat washing etc. Also for carriage of small items. A good item overall.

This bucket is made of a heavy canvas with double rows of stitching down the side, but what looks like only a single row of stitching around the bottom. Hard to tell because of some kind of cloth covering the wire ring in the bottom. The bottom does have an X made from webbing to reinforce the bottom with good heavy X and box stitching to hold the webbing to the side of the bucket. Looks very solid. I do not know the exact volume/capacity for liquid that this bucket will hold but it looks like at least two gallons, so I am happy with that. This is a compact size so it should be easy to find a space for it on most of my camps and like most canvas buckets in the past, it twists to collapse it. The price was reasonable and the bucket should last for many seasons with reasonable care. The reason for the deduction of a star is that I feel that the handle strap should be of a heavier material or doubled if using the same material as what is currently used. Very handy item for hauling water and putting out fires around camp also. ------------- Conclusion-------------- This is a canvas bucket that has as many uses as you can think up for it. Haul water, tools, small objects, or any number of jobs. I would buy this again if needed and the price remains reasonable. ---------------Now for all of the complaints I have seen about leaking water. ---------- I have used similar buckets for years and one of the first things we always did was to seal the seams with melted bee's wax. Sometimes we even mixed a very little Vaseline in the mix and submerge the whole bucket in the hot wax to soak up what it could. After that, heat the bucket up with an oven set as low as possible, leave it out in the sun on a hot day or use a hair dryer/ low set heat gun and move the canvas around while it is hot to really work the wax in. WEAR GLOVES when doing this. That is my two cents worth. Experiment and Adapt, that is the most fun when modifying camping gear to fit you and your style.

I bought this bucket for the children & residents in a dimension known as "Under the Bridge". God protects these children & these people by giving them special gifts. I bought one bucket & when I gave it to them it provided 50,000 copies of this bucket to everyone whom wanted one. It became a magic fire brigade bucket that is always full with fresh water. They recently had a fire break out in their encampment area & they put it out themselves, before the fire department arrived, since they had practiced doing a bucket fire brigade using old discarded buckets that they had collected. I felt they deserved some new equipment to add to their survival gear & ordered them this canvas fire bucket. They soaked their buckets in pure fabric softener overnight since fabric softener is a fire retardant. They actually had another opportunity to put out a second fire in the area & they gave their bucket to the fire dept.'s captain. It instantly filled with water & he threw the entire thing, bucket with the water, straight through the fire & it immediately extinguished the entire blaze. It was worth every penny knowing that they will be safe & prepared for the upcoming fire season here in California! I would recommend every family to buy one.

It works great on our boat to clean the deck with salt water. Stores flat. Works well.

The maker, Rothco, was very responsive and sent me a new bucket when the first one I bought leaked out the bottom as soon as I put about a quart of water in it. The second one I received holds water. So I think there's an issue with consistency in their product, which is a shame because the bucket is useful and free of plastic, which I appreciate.
