smanos W020i Wireless Security Alarm System w/HD WiFi Camera

earlier this year I read a review on macsources about the smanos w020i and I was impressed and put it on my Amazon wish list and ordered it last week. It arrived on Tuesday and I immediately opened it up and started to get everything set-up. I had a couple of questions about the network so I stopped for the night and called smanos on Wednesday. smanos confirmed that I needed to use the network name and the network password to be able to securely send push notifications to my phone (android).after work on Wednesday, I went home and got it set up in less than a half hour, including mounting the door sensors and camera. Door sensors with easy double sided sticky tape, included and the camera had the 3 mollys and screws to securely attach to the wall.The app is very cool in that it has exactly what is needed, arm, disarm & home. I also asked smanos support about the home feature as I did have trouble grasping this concept. But after explaining it to me I now understand why I didn't understand. It is because this kit does not include motion sensors and the home feature arms the perimeter door and window sensors but not the motion sensor so you can arm the perimeter while at home but not the interior motion sensors so you can freely move around the interior of the apartment w/o setting off the alarm.I spent about an hour after setup arming and disarming the system and opening my front door and balcony door and being notified almost before I opened it! This was neat. I also liked the fact that I could mute the siren while I was testing everything so as not to disturb the neighbors while testing.I poked around the app and saw that I can program to automatically arm and disarm at specific time which was interesting, not sure I can ever be on such a set schedule to do this but I like the idea of having it. It also allows to set entry and exit delay times so you have time to enter and leave w/o tripping the siren. Of course, I think that I will always arm after I leave and disarm just before i arrive but a nice feature to have.I set my camera up in both the smanos camera app and in my alarm app and am very impressed with the image. Very clear image so if you get a notification that something happened you switch to the camera and see what's what can act accordingly. The only drawback with the camera is if there is ZERO light, you cannot see anything but if you have just a smidgeon of light it really sees. While I was speaking with support, they shared that true night vision cameras have IR lights to "see" in total darkness but will eventually burn out and when they do, you will have a camera with less performance because they do not have the low-light sensor that the smanos camera has. It is kind of a trade off and I am happy with this camera.I am very happy so far with this purchase and know it will be easy to take down and move to my new place next year.

The app stinks,The only thing that worked were the two door switches and the remote,would not connect to wifi,camera did but only showed a blank screen,needs some serious rework.

I purchased the set at Amazon Germany for 170EUR, a fair price for the hardware you get I would say. While I would consider the hardware good quality, the software (iOS/Android apps) is severely lacking. Setup is a bit tricky but the whole system does eventually work well together.The UI of the apps is not very intuitive or user friendly. On iOS at least the push alerts for alarm work, this is not the case on Android, where the Smanos App has to be running in foreground in order to receive push alerts. This does make the whole system partially useless. The camera is a nice gimmick but since it does not have motion detection and no ability to send pictures / videos to some online storage it is also rather useless for security purposes. It is possible to insert an SD card for local video storage but thats easy for a burglar to destroy/remove.What would substantially improve the value of the system but is currently lacking:- Fixed Android push notifications- Email notifications / IFTTT integration- Camera should be able to email pictures on motion detection- Alarms should be logged in the Apps with time and sensor triggered
