I have multiple spin down filters in my large home. This unit is probably the best made one. The reason - is that other filters have only 1 mesh in there. This filter has a set of 2 - one with a larger micron and the other small (50um). So with this design, it's able to catch more debris over a longer time. The unit is very solid - and the clear plastic housing that holds the filters is noticeably thicker than some of the other ones. There is a spring mechanism that holds the mesh down - not sure what the function of this is for as other filters don't have any spring at all. Other than that, it works just the same as other spin down filter mechanisms. It can accommodate a flow rate up to 20gpm (if you use the 1" fitting and pluming pipe) or less if you are using 3/4 plumbing. Just flush the unit every 2-4 weeks to keep the water flowing nicely.
