does the silicone pass the pinch test?

Does our popcorn popper turn white when pinched, yes? Is our silicone food-grade silicone, absolutely? Does the "pinch-test" prove anything, no? We have received silicone samples that did not turn white when pinched and were in no way safe to use in the microwave. They claimed to be 100% silicone but were probably more rubber than anything else. We rely on something a little more scientific than a "pinch-test". It's called, "Third party laboratory testing and certification, according to FDA standards." Let us know and we can supply you with a copy.

Has anyone tried this with butter instead of popping oil? Does it work ok or does it scorch and ruin your bowl/popcorn?

Yes, We melt Kerry Gold Butter in the bottom of the bowl, Swirl it all over the sides then salt it all over the insides; After making sure there is still enough butter in the bottom we Pour Amish Kernels in and Pop - Salt a little more when done and serve in Corelle Snack bowls with a napkin on top to retain the heat - Best way to get that buttery flavor without making it "Soggy" with melted butter poured over it. Bowl is not Scorched or ruined - Popcorn is Delicious - Hulless Popcorn helps prevent gum misery.

understood, but the fct is that it still a china product. I cant buy it. Our family vows for 2021, that we give only handcrafted items or items that are assembled OR 100% sourced within USA borders.

Does this leave unpopped kernels at the bottom? What's the difference between this popper bowl and using a regular bowl with a lid?

As to the part about why is this different than a normal bowl / lid: a normal plastic bowl will not stand up to the heat generated by the kernels & the kernels will melt into the bowl (voice of experience). I did also try Pyrex which WILL work, but the Pyrex will reach and remain at a temperature approximately the same as molten lava. I searched for silicone mixing bowls to replace the Pyrex and eventually searched Microwave Popcorn Popper--boom--sold. Love this thing & the time aspect is this takes a little longer because it doesn't have that nuclear heat patch like the bagged stuff.

The container got burnt in the microwave.

American quality.

Latest fad is popcorn. I like it with flavour. Salt, caramel, whatever. This item is well made and pops your corn well. However you cannot add oil/coconut oil or flavouring before popping. Burning. Not as effective therefore for me and I resort to the pan on the stove top. Nothing wrong with it and it's a useful standby. Just limited by its material.
