Who eventually follow Raiden and begin to train to protect the earth realm. Sadly the plot is typical of previous Mortal Kombat movies and does not keep you on the edge of your seat but instead provides a purpose to the movie whilst you wait for the epic fight scenes. I always felt whilst watching the film that it was a build-up to a potential second film.Despite the storyline, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Josh Lawson who plays Kano adds a whole star to my review for this movie, the jokes he cracks throughout the film had me in stitches to the point where I would almost call this a comedy. The humour along with many faithful references to the game made it an enjoyable film to watch for a Mortal Kombat fan.The visuals are impressive, it is clear thought has been taken into how their skills could be applied to combat. On the 4k Blu Ray, certain scenes look fantastic with HDR applied, especially Liu Kang's fire abilities.The audio is the most disappointing part for me. It is subwoofer heavy in the fight scenes and the 5.1 audio provided on the disc did not add much to the experience with limited surround effects. The fact this was a 4K UHD disc I would have expected 7.1 audio. There are some nice trance/dubstep tracks though that try and pay homage to the original movie which did add some nostalgia to the film.The packaging is okay but limited to a nice slipcover. The discs are plain other than the text so I think more could have been done here. But there are a good number of extras on the Blu Ray disc including deleted scenes, 'From game to screen', 'easter eggs of Mortal Kombat' and more, that Mortal Kombat fans will definitely appreciate.Overall I had a great time watching this film, I would rate it 4 stars for Mortal Kombat fans who will understand and appreciate the game references, but would only give it 3 stars to viewers who know nothing of the Mortal Kombat universe.

The new Mortal Kombat film is basically your normal story line of revenge and good over evil to put it simply, so i agree the story line is not all that new neither is it anything you won't have encountered before watching other films thus it is fairly easy to follow... and the fight scenes make the movie.That is all it is if your not a MK fan.If you are an MK fan on the other hand and a follower of the games like myself then you will enjoy this as your the targeted audience, it has Scorpion, Subzero, Brutal fight scenes, Fatality, Special Effects & The Cathprase's.Ok in my opinion there should have been more of the characters but lets be real if you are a fan of the game like i am if we are honest the cast list would have been huge to manage that!So GET OVER HERE! Buy it.

I enjoyed this film overall but some things could be improved upon I am looking forward to the sequel.

The steelbook looks great. The quality of the picture and sound is great too. The film though is terrible. So much wasted potential and the pacing is abysmal, you're never really sure how to feel. I'm pretty sure I'll never watch it again but I'll keep it as the steelbook looks amazing on the shelf.

There is a lot of new faces in this movie but all the characters are there. Lewis Tan gets centre stage as the new character to the franchise as Cole Young. It’s a good role for him to make his debut on a blockbuster level franchise like this. Other notable actors are the CW’s supergirl’s Mechad brooks as Jax, Who does well for the character. This is an action over story movie so enjoy it for the nostalgia

Loved the original films even though they were cheesy and a major fan of the games this film is brilliant the fight scenes were spectacular and gruesome loved it

Ein wirklich gut gemachter Film der aber auf Fortsetzungen hoffen lässt !

I was amazed at the speed of delivery of this fine remake of the very first VG to be made into a film- Mortal Kombat! Love that theme music! Then I tried to play it and got 'Wrong Region'! Beware and be sure you get the American USA Region 1 DVD disk because I got the version that only plays in Europe and the UK. I was able to find the correct version and it was delivered to me yesterday and it says playable in United States on it. But to make sure I chatted online w/ Mayama at Amazon and she assured me that this version was the one I needed. Not very often does Amazon muck up but when they do, they bend over backwards to make things right.

Open it when it got here today and this was it looked liked ☹️ Had to returned it
