Nice item if you need to scan slides.
I have had no problems with the slide scanner. It works as I expected. I did not use the film feature.

Could Not Get it to Work!
The item arrived promptly. I was hoping to get to use it right away. I tried installing the software on a Windows 11 laptop and it would not work, so I installed it on a Windows 10 laptop. That installed fine. I registered the product and followed all instructions. So far, all is easy as can be. Now I try to insert the plastic holder and it stops abruptly right at the beginning. Will not go any further. Tried giving it a little force but no dice. It was NOT going to go in. I checked to make sure it was facing the right way and the arrow was in the correct direction, still NO go. So, I wrote the company and told them I was returning it. I packed it up and sending it back. I don't want to spend countless hours waiting for responses or poor excuses as to why it's getting stuck or how to use it. It's easy enough, it's just junk. So, back it goes. Not worth my time. Save your money and purchase one a little more expensive but something that works.

A good value for the price.
There are no other slide scanners near the price of this unit. This is probably because it is the only one that does not have a built in view screen and must be used with a computer but that is exactly what I was looking for. It does require you to load software onto your computer. The instructions say to load the supplied disk but there was no disk included with mine. The instruction book does list the web site where the software can be down loaded. Down loading and installing the software will not be difficult for anyone with a little computer knowledge. The software does allow for some adjustment of the color, brightness, and contrast but a good photo editing software package might work better. The software for this unit works well enough for my needs. The only draw back I find with the unit is the slide carrier especially if you have a lot of slides to copy. The carrier only holds four slides at a time and is a little tedious to load. It would be better if slides could be continuously fed through the scanner. The carrier has to be opened and four slides carefully inserted then the carrier is closed and inserted into the scanner. With the software running the first slide will show on the computer screen. The pictures parameters can then be adjusted if necessary. When ready just push the scan button and the picture will be given a file number and copied to the computer. The carrier can then be moved to the next slide and the process repeated till all four slides are done then load four more slides into the carrier. As long as the software remains open the scanner will increment the file number for each successive slide. File names can be added or changed later in the computer. After I have finished scanning a batch of slides I will open a new folder for that batch and move them to it. So far I have had no problems with the operation of the scanner.

Cheap and worthy of the price.
It has no detailed control over critical attributes like gamma (appears to be set linear and not that of film). Default settings do not match Kodachrome, Agfachrome, Fujichrome, nor Ektachrome. I happen to have not found any slides that I need that for and I can make most of the corrections in GIMP (freeware with Photoshop functions). So, it is not completely useless. But, recovering color from 60 years ago is not possible, but Kodachrome and Agfachrome are stable enough that the color of the slide is correct. The scanner does not match what I see in a viewer. It appears to either have a lens that is not up to the quality of the array OR it is out of focus. I used known good slides with an edge and it appears to be slightly poorer than VGA in true quality. If it wasn't so noisy, I could recover most of the edges with the oversampling, but it is too noisy for that. The other major problem is that it does not align with the slides.Loading slides is another problem. The slots are two shallow for reliable insertion. So, you have to insert the slide(s), try to close it, reposition it until you can close it. Sometimes, you have to touch the slide to close it. I have worn finger cots to allow handling. It is not really cleanable. I have used the method cited in the instructions and it doesn't work. Instead, I am careful with a blow off canned air.I would have given one star, but that rating and two stars, I would consider so useless that I would return it. As one star, is essentially zero star. Any utility would be two stars. It is really quite useful for what I bought it and the price is low enough to accept it. Therefore, I give it three stars.

Great product for the price
I ordered this thinking it might be cheaply made and was surprised. It is plastic but does the job. the only problem I had was that the little doors where the slide goes in and out broke off. I am still using it without even noticing them gone. Good product!

Complete waste of money.
This product is not as advertised and a complete waste of money. Supposed to work on MAC and when installed the "scanner" only shows and captures images of film negatives, so useless (image attached). Manual shows a way to adjust for different film format, but software provides absolutely no way to adjust. There is no way to contact for help and no information on the site to assist. If you think you can save a few bucks for a simple slide scanner, this is not the answer. What a waste.

Simple and easy to use
I believe the instructions said the unit could be used without the software, but I didn't find that to be the case. but the software is super easy to install and use. I would like the image screen to be lager in the software but it is usable. Photos show and example of color adjustment, found these really old slides, not sure if the rock man is a real person or a rock man.
