I purchased this for my wife to keep with her while on our travels. It's a little overboard for self-defense, but I'd rather her be safe than sorry. Of course I had to test it out when it arrived at our doorstep. It had a protective sheath you could keep either in your car or purse and not have the stunner bouncing around and accidentally activate. That being said, keeping it in the sheath might make it harder to retrieve when you need it. It came with a charger so you don't need to worry about purchasing batteries, though it is undetermined how long the built-in battery will last at this point. It is very user friendly, has a light that can be used, though not at the same time as the stunner. Now for the fun part. I didn't zap anyone with the stun gun, but I activated it to confirm it worked. OMG, that loud zapping/crackling sound is intimidating in itself! Wow! I would turn and run if some dry zapped this towards me. My wife added she felt it was longer/larger than she thought it would be (yes, that is indeed what she said ;)) but was stated as a negative in this instance. Overall, I'd give this a four and three quarters for her feedback, but a nice product and hope she never has to use it. She'll likely just use it to rattle me next time I forget to take out the trash. lol

This unit works very well, and I would buy it again. But be aware that the battery does not hold a charge for more than a day or two. I am now in the habit of recharging every other evening, and so far all is well. I am concerned about the battery life.But for the price, it has been a great purchase.

The stun part of this gun only worked three times and after a prolonged attempt to recharge it syill would not work.
