The return:
So pleased that there is a follow up series. Outstanding storey line. Can't wait for the next read. Bring on the climax.

Another 👌 addition to my collection
A different take on an already established storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. Two genders in one person who is trying to find their way in the world full of danger and not just from demons.

Amazing as always
An amazing book, which is part of an amazing collection - I have read all of Tolkien, RR Martin, Hietz, Weeks, Elsbeth Cooper, Patrick Rothfuss, Gemmell and overall his writing for me is amazing. The storyline, the characters. Tolkien and Brett are my two favourite authors of all time I would recommend anyone find this for the first time - read the the first books - you.. will.. not.. regret.. it.. :)

Irritating first person narrative
I've always enjoyed books from this author however in this new series he has suddenly switched from the standard third person narrative to writing in a very annoying first person narrative. This would be irritating enough on it's own but the narrative also jumps from one character to another, all written in the first person. This happened in the previous series as well but that was fine when it was all in the third person. The storyline is acceptable but the new narrative style is enough to put me off reading any more of the series. Why he has done this is a mystery but I'm hoping he will return to his usual style of writing for any subsequent books or he will have lost a customer in me.

Brilliant
This was amazing 👏 took me a few pages to adapt to the first person point of view, but once I did I couldn't put it down! All the old characters of the demon cycle were great to see. Especially Elona. She's just so sassy! Leesha as always is a tad too up herself for sense. Woman thinks she knows better to the point of smothering. And all the new characters were great! Bringing a new vibrance to the world Peter created. My only complaint, it ended rather abruptly. No matter, I look forward to the next book to come!

Compelling, like the previous ones
Set in a rich, familiar world (for those who've read the previous series), with fresh young protagonists that struggle with a fresh set of challenges in a setting that has matured fifteen years since we've last seen it. Well written, draws you in and keeps you there. The worldbuilding is top-notch, the magic concept is unique, interesting and well thought-out and the religious aspect is respectful and believable.
