So this is what a keyboard can be
So I wanted to review this immediately, because it doesn't have any reviews. This keyboard is, I'm 99% certain, the same as the E-Element x7200, except for cosmetics.First, the plate is a slightly coppery matte beige, a very nice calm color. Metal, heavy, no flex. The keys are light feeling plastic, slightly textured, and with pretty sharp edges. The Number and F keys have symbols on them (besides the normal ones) which are printed on and feel slightly raised and cheap. The legend is just hideous (same legend as all the boards at this price-point, though) and I already have replacements on the way.The press is light, the click *quite* loud, especially when typing at speed. I've been on membrane and chiclet keyboards for so long that it's definitely gonna take a little bit for me to adjust to how much lighter I can be with my hands on a board this responsive, but I opened up a typing test and clocked in at 107wpm with two errors on a 60 second test. I have typed about 90-95wpm reliably for 15 years, so I think the board might have something to do with that jump.I'm a writer first, and a hobby gamer. This is definitely going to be a great board for writing. I imagine that the click feedback won't be as satisfying for gaming, but it doesn't bother me too much. The LED lights don't change color. I knew this, I'm not mad about it. I have it set on "key lighting" mode, where each key lights up after being struck. It's dope. The other settings are a little garish, but the LEDs themselves are of good quality. The "wrist-rest" is a cheaper plastic, and is textured with little bumps. It's so short, though, that it's basically useless. I'm not taking a star off for that, but it is sorta dumb.Overall I'm super thrilled with both the aesthetics and the performance of this board. The switches are rectangular, not crosses like with the cherry mx, and so I'm a little concerned that the keycaps I ordered won't fit. I'll update if they don't. UPDATE: they don't. Gotta find ALPS caps.
