Can you use a different app with these trackers or do they only work within its own app?

They work within it's own app (The Corner App) but it also works in the background of other apps.

Our trackers are not compatible with their app unfortunately.

Can you make these work without turning on the location? Why does the location need to be on for them to pair?

This is a security requirement for Android (starting in version 10?) since Bluetooth can be used to track a user (see: AirTags / etc.) these days, the requirement to connect via Bluetooth is now behind the "Location" permission and that's what it is being used for with these trackers. Just check "Only Allow While Using App" and you should be fine.
