3D FORMULATION'S PROTO-COAT or "P-C" is a unique water-based "functional" coating, specifically formulated for AM parts & 3d printed prototypes and projects.No other product has the properties of P-C. Unlike a paint, P-C has a suite of very desirable physical properties, Consideration must be given to these physical properties and how, they can drive innovation.P-C is a functional coating, not a cosmetic paint. It is a worthwhile exercise, to apply a number of coats to a smooth surface, such as glass, and allow the product to cure overnight. Peeling the product away, will reveal a thin, strong but flexible, plastic-like film. This simple demonstration better helps one, to visualize and consider possible applications. P-C is completely water-proof, once cured. P-C has excellent U.V. resistance.The rich pigment content, also makes penetration by light, very difficult. U.V. exposure is problematic for: high detail resin, rigid opaque plastic, rubber-like plastic, transparent plastic, simulated polypropylene, simulated ABS, heat resistant plastic.P-C has excellent chemical resistance.In addition to chemical resistance, the product is also able to carry chemicals. This unique feature is yet to be explored, but may prove to be a breakthrough innovation for the healthcare, maritime, horticulture and military segments and many more. P-C, once cured, has superior scratch and abrasion resistance. Although flexible, the product forms and extremely strong film on rigid surfaces. This ability may find many future applications in mass AM parts.The product is pure. P-C contains no fillers. Conservative estimates of coverage at 1.66 square meters per 100ml per coat, represents excellent value for money. P-C primes, undercoats & top coats in the one application.The solids content of P-C inherently reduces color seepage through porous materials.P-C has superior adhesion to most 3d printing materials, a perfect match for rubber-like plastics and filaments.
