Lullabies To Violaine Volume Two

I was introduced to the Cocteau Twins' music while I was in high school by one of my best friends. Although that was a long time ago, we remain huge fans, stay in contact with each other and collaborate on a number of creative projects - just because of the way the Cocteau Twins' can inspire anyone who hears it!It is as if this group has the ability to sing abstract art, painting the good as well as the bad and balancing them in such a way that it has a healing and therapeutic quality to it.

This band came into my life in 1988 with "Blue Bell Knoll," and I've never looked back. Lullabies to Violaine, vol. 2 is a great addition with numbers I hadn't heard, "Mud and Dark," and "Summer-Blink." This is an example, though not complete, of their evolving from a heavier style to a lighter and more sophosticated sound. Where are "Carolyn's Fingers," and "Blue Bell Knoll?"One Christmas, while working at a well known clothing store, the music playing in their sound system included "Winter Wonderland." I heard it day in and day out, and had no idea as to where to find it. I mentioned to one of the 20 something co-workers that it was Cocteau Twins, and she asked, "Who are they?" I didn't feel old, but privileged. That song, as well as "Frosty The Snowman," were two of the reasons I bought this collection. These renditions on the first disc are unique and very wonderful. I should love to hear how they might have rendered other Christmas favourites.This CD is a must, as is vol. 1, for any Cocteau Twins collector. I only wish they could have a DVD for all of their videos, which were just as brilliant. Why not? Musically, they are superior and sadly missed.

I love this 2cd compilation and had a lot of wonderful songs from the Cocteau Twins.If your a fan you got to pick this up for purchase.

I only recently found out that this product existed after having visited the Cocteau Twins website. Both Volumes 1 and 2 are 2-CD sets. Much of the Cocteau Twins output was orginally done in the form of EPs having 4 songs per EP. This is a great way of getting to hear an hours worth of music on each CD without having to constantly change the CD your listening to (if you were listening to one of the original CD-EPs, let's say...) It's also a great collection of the many EPs they've put out, B-sides and remixes. When I first bought the set, I didn't know that there were alternate versions and remixes, so that's a bonus.

An essential cd for people who love cocteau twins. The tracks are fabulous.

I am a big fan of Cocteau Twins. Always loved their music. The only disappointment I ever had with them was the last album Milk and Kisses which, to me, didn't develop anything in their music nor really took them back to their roots (even though that's what the critics said it did). It was average in their standards. That's why I never bothered with the singles. Guess what? It feels great to be proven wrong about them. But what treasures this compilation reveals! It's a mesmerising reminder of the fact that Cocteau's were a band of singles and ep's and that one should never underestimate their b-sides! The songs are playful, sometimes very simple, raw and then again sophisticated symphonies of sound. Liz's singing in Twinlights is cuttingly sincere and yet in Tishbite and Violane she can get as adventurous as ever, singing in full range from a deep, mature voice to the heights of a bird. It's long time since I've played one cd over and over again for weeks! Extremely sensuous music. Highly recommended. Makes a great Christmas present for a fan :-)

Brilliant second album trip through the Cocteaus back catalogue. Shows the fantastic attention to detail in the recording and tracks their sonic development and experimentation. Not for everyone, but for those that are musically avant garde, a real gem.

This twin companion to volume one justifies the respect and adulation many discerning music lovers have for this wonderful and unique band,collecting singles,B-sides and alt mixes.their sound was so other-worldly,it's aged beautifully.

Die späteren CT-Songs ab ca. 1990 wirken nicht mehr so melancholisch und traumverloren wie die älteren. Sie sind zum Teil deutlich besser produziert (Schönklang), allerdings auch etwas schmelziger, Richtung "Sphärenklänge".Das klingt immer noch sehr sehr schön, aber deutlich kommerzieller als die Erstlinge.

Che cosa dire di più sui Cocteau Twins? Sono fantastici ed io li adoro ormai da oltre 30anni. Non avevo questo cd e l'ho acquistato con molta soddisfazione.

Essential listening, nothing less than five stars for this double CD of EP's. What would I give for a brand new Cocteau album...

excellente compilation intégrale (Volume 2) avec tous les Singles et E.P's en 2 cd de ce très bon groupe pop ..le seul regret est l'absence de reproduction des pochettes originales .. je recommande quand même cette compilation à tous les fans qui , comme moi , ne connaissais que les albums .. le (Volume 1) et les albums originaux sont tout aussi indispensable que ce (Volume 2) ! voix unique et musique inimitable (et vice versa) ***** !
