🔭 Aim for the stars with precision!
The Astromania Red Dot Finderscope is a deluxe non-magnifying reflex sight designed for astronomical telescopes. It features a large viewing window, four reticle patterns, and five brightness levels in red or green light. The finder scope includes a dovetail bracket for easy mounting on most telescopes and allows for precise alignment with fine adjustment set screws. It operates on a CR 2032 lithium battery (not included) and is perfect for both day and night use.

Great Product With Some Things You Need to Know
Very solid all-metal construction. I calibrated the alignment in the morning and when I went to test it that night in Jupiter it was spot on. No drift or alignment issues for me. My only qualms are that the color/brightness knob is very hard to turn. Also, a bit of quality control lacking in the reticule shape selector switch; when switched all the way to the right side the reticule projection actually gets displaced significantly. Be advised this does NOT include the required 2032 battery. The dovetail mount did not fit my Koolpte telescope but that's more an issue with my telescope than the finder and was resolved with some metal filing.

Wonderful finder scope
I was looking for a better finder scope for my reflector telescope. This scope offers a laser in red or green and several styles of dots, crosshairs and targets.Takes one disc battery - not suppliedWorks great and is easy to align with the telescope with supplied Allen wrench

Too many flaws
Though this is a solid piece of kit overall and the adjustable brightness and finder types is nice, the major flaws in this take away from it. If you have a permanent setup these flaws may not be a problem for you.First major flaw is you need an allen wrench to adjust the finder. All my other finders like this have dials or wheels. This is a real pain to have to find the wrench/key every time i need to align it.The first major flaw wouldn’t be an issue issue if it were not for the second major flaw which is that it doesn’t hold alignment... the “laser” itself does... but the overall unit and it’s bracket are very sloppy. The slightest bump or touch and it gets knocked out of alignment. My setup is on a scope buggy and just the light bumps from rolling it out to the yard knock it out of alignment. If you’re truly portable and take the finder on and off your scope then forget about it... it NEVER lines back up if you take it on and off as the unit is sloppy/loose on its bracket... it has a ton of flexure. It’s a shame - the core unit is solid but the bracket they’ve put it on and the allen wrench adjustments make this a frustrating piece of kit that is always out of alignment...

Great Sight but Astigmatism Users Beware
Initially, I turned on the sight and was appalled by how out of focus and blurry the reticles are. However, upon further research, this is a common issue with non zooming red dot apparatus. When looking at the reticles through my phone camera, the reticle appears in focus and sharp, so I’m sure it’s actually my own eyes making this sight difficult to use. I guess I wasn’t aware I had much astigmatism before this sight, or the reference they focused this with is simply not the same as my eyes. It’s a really nice sight that would be great if I could get my eyes to focus on the reticle. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the lack of included CR 2023 battery, which is required but not included.

Solid site construction
The sight worked pretty well once I put on the correct glasses, long story. It is a gun site like I have used in the past which I like, once it's set you don't have to touch it again. The sight adjusts with allen keys which I prefer and then locks down with a smaller key to prevent vibration issues, overkill for a telescope but better than the alternative. Some may find the lowest setting a bit bright but the single red dot can help with that. I have it on a Skywatcher Evostar 100ED and works great with the factory mount.

Another alignment tool to play with since everyone's tastes and eyes are different.
Bought this to add to my telescope accessories, works well and is a reasonable price. Easy to install and align.

2 colors and 5 brightness settings: can't beat that.
The two colors are useful, but the 5 brightness settings are the real selling point. If you're looking at something bright, like a Jupiter, you can crank up the brightness to help you distinguish your target. If you want to aim at something dimmer, like the nebula in Orion, then you can notch the brightness down so it's comfortable to view.If you want to zero-in and range your scope in the day time, against a far-off light pole or street lamp, you can change to the green color and the sight works just as well.I use this for my telescope, but the reflex sight itself (without the stand) is compatible with a Picatinny rail. Which is surprising, but not totally unwelcome.
