Okay, here's what happened. A couple years back I tripped and fell. I banged my knee pretty bad; could not walk without a lot of pain. Mr. James kindly did the shopping and other errands for me. This painful inconvienence enabled me to spend more time on the you-tube. Happily, I was able to see and learn so many new and interesting things. I happened on a doctor discussing the various K vitamins. He explained about K2 and D3 and it's functions in the body. From his discription of how K2 works in the body, I would describe K2 as a traffic cop telling the calcium intake to go strengthen our bones and not go into our arteries. I thought about this and decided to give it a try. Actually, my derriere was getting a bit sore at me for doing all that sitting for more than two years. I began taking the K2-D3 just 2 times a week. After a few weeks I did notice a difference. Then, I thought, maybe I need some calcium in my diet. The doctor warned not to take calcium pills but rather get it from a food source. I already know that yogert is more in the line of fermented foods (but not fermented - just in that general sense of nutritionally beneficial); I asked Mr. James to find some organic, plain, whole milk yogert - and - Happy day, he did! I increased the dosage to 4 times per week along with some yogert with each pill. What do you think happened? My knee healing went into hyper drive! (Well, gosh, after two years of this pain in my --- huh --- knee, the healing seemed like hyperdrive) So now? I am walking. I may be walking slowy and carefully with each step but my behind is not as sore at me now. I am able to do a little gardening again. Plus, I have been able to go to the grocery store for some serious shopping once again:) I am so happy!!! :)

Evolved Organics really did a good job of convincing me that I should be taking Vitamin K2. I have gone to them for other products in the past and on a whim decided to see what else they had in their portfolio. This one jumped out because it is a vitamin that I didn't have much knowledge of, which in hindsight, is a shame on me. Vitamin K2, specifically the menaquinone 7 form (MK7, not the MK4 form which isn't very bioavailable and requires a huge dose) is critical for calcium movement throughout our body. My first thought was, "I'm a guy, why do I care about calcium, my bones are just fine". But it's not the bones, it's the heart which makes this a must have product for every one. Vitamin K2 MK7 specifically helps to remove calcium build up in the cardiovascular system and deposit that calcium in the bones, giving you a two for one vitamin! I also like that Evolved Organics uses the MenaQ7 brand of vitamin K2. After purchasing this product I did a bit more reading up and saw that pretty much all of the human clinical studies that have been done have used the MenaQ7 branded material. And speaking of which, this product offers the same 180 mcg dose of Vitamin K2 MK7 that was used in the main human clinical study showing all of the heart health benefits and calcification reversal. Well done Evolved Organics, well done indeed.

Years ago I read about the positive effect that eating fermented soybeans - natto - has for bone health in Japan. The rate of osteoporosis is much lower among natto eaters in that country. Since natto is probably not very palatable for many outside of Japan - think slimy mixed with the smell of dirty socks - I kept looking for other ways to get a more palatable rendition of it. This led me to finding NattoPharma a company in Norway which had found a way to extract the MK-7 (K2) to sell as a powder or oil to sell to supplement manufacturers and Truvantage was listed here in the USA. I was psyched and have never stopped buying them. My doctor also agreed that they were a good idea. I am a woman in my seventies who has had osteopenia for years and it was heading towards osteoporosis. My husband and I go a few times a week to a gym and we both use this product for heart and bone health. On my last bone scan I actually had an improvement in my density. Now how often does someone at my age have that happen. I do believe that this supplement plays an important part in those results.

Vitamin K2 seems to be helping my body make use of more of the Calcium supplements I take. Before using K2, calcium supplements (with vitamin D3) kept my serum calcium levels (as determined by blood tests) at the high end of recommended range, but my osteopenia was progressing. Using K2+D3 with my calcium supplements, the latest bone density has indicated no increase in the osteopenia since last checked. That's never happened before. Anecdotal, sure. But seems to be working for me. YMMV.

My dear hubby is part of the population that has a rare genetic skin disorder that left him home bound and in terrible pain. They lack the ATP2C1 gene contains instructions for creating (encoding) a protein that acts as a calcium and magnesium pump in the cells resulting in the blistering of the skin that tears due to it's weakness (think of 2nd degree burns). Since K2 is important in the uptake of calcium this product has helped his skin heal and become stronger resulting in less pain and being able to function better. We weren't sure if the product was working until he ran out and his skin started flaring up again. He is now on the product and healing is now starting to take place.
