how do you remove it after storing gun and then deciding to use it in range?

I don't that's the beauty of this product...out of storage and to the range....no need to wipe down or lube action with different oil. This is as excellent a lube/oil for the action, and all moving parts; as it is a for storage. The US military required it do, and be both; and it is! 100%..... The best Oil on the market in my opinion. I use it on every gun I own from pistols to rifles; AR's and/or Mosin Nagants.

Does the firearm need to be cleaned/lubed before shooting like some other storage products?

The firearm should be clean and all mechanical parts lightly lubed before firing. Break-Free CO-4 Collector works fine for both storage and actual use of the firearm. Of course before firing, be certain to remove all lubricant from the barrel and, if you a firing a revolver, from the chambers of the cylinder.

where do you put this in a gun - pistol ad a revolver both? can you also apply this outside the gun?

oil location depends upon the type of firearm you are using., they are all different and require it in different places. also, no reason to ever oil the outside of a gun, unless you are planning on long-term underground storage. :-)
