Some obscure items in recipes. My kids like some of them
I love to cook, but regularly cooked with dairy until one of my kids was diagnosed as lactose intolerant and I had to start cooking dairy-free. My kids have liked some of the recipes and some of them have obscure items in recipes not necessarily available in the local grocery store.

So far, have tried recipe for Coconut Rice Pudding ...
So far, have tried recipe for Coconut Rice Pudding and found it would not thicken because custard needs eggs and there were no eggs called for. I, therefore, after stirring for way too long, had to go through the mess of whipping up a couple of eggs and tempering them into the hot milk.

I would recommend this recipe book for kids dairy free eating.
Just got the book yesterday and jumped right in and made two of the most wonderful recipes, cheesy corn muffin and carrot pancake...yummy. The instructions are clear and super easy to follow. Beautiful pictures.

useless
what an incredibly useless book! These are regular recipes that just call for dairy alternatives like dairy free yogurt or dairy free cream cheese. I am not stupid, if I wanted to just replace them in regular recipes I could do that. Also, we and many others don't have access to supermarkets that even carry those specialty items. Returned it.

Great if you can have soya, good if you can't ... lovely to have easy to do recipes that you don't have to work at adpating!
Brilliant book for not only children but also adults who are dairy free.Myself, my mother and my daughter are dairy free and also soya free. I've not yet read all the book but have tried several of the recipes already. Delicious and also easy to follow and do. Suitable for the whole family!!Issue's I've found - the recipes state "diary free ...." which doesn't always work as some dairy free alternative tastes don't work together. It works best with Soya alternatives, but if you can't have this, coconut, nut or oat milk doesn't always taste right. Also it would be useful to have recommended alternatives for each recipe. Some recommend yoghurt - and if you ca't have soya yoghurt this is really difficult. Would be useful to have a list of what could be used.Saying that I've now got a copy on kindle and a hard copy as I'm using this book more and have let my mother borrow it!Also if your looking for almost normal tasting vegan cheese try violife ... I tried everything else and was in dispare as it was vile! This stuff is delicious and just like the real stuff!

It's got some nice ideas. Many recipes have no picture at all
It's got some nice ideas. Many recipes have no picture at all, many others are of kids eating the food but no prep pics etc. Many recipes are just regular ones with 'dairy free' cream 'dairy free' spread etc pit in in place of the normal dairy ingredients... I can figure that out myself to be honest... Disappointed

Really Good for Kids that have been Diagnosed as Lactose Intolerant
This book came to the rescue when my son was diagnosed as lactose intolerant. Gave me lots of ideas to work with during a difficult transition for my six year old, now we live quite happily lactose free and I still use this book for inspiration.

We chose this book because it was recommended to us as being particularly good
It was bought as a gift for a family member, whose young son is lactose intolerant. We chose this book because it was recommended to us as being particularly good. Very pleased with it.
