Germoloids Haemorrhoid Treatment Ointment is one of those products you hope you won’t need — but when you do, you’re very glad it exists. The triple-action formula does exactly what it says: soothes, protects, and helps with discomfort. The anaesthetic effect is noticeable and gives fairly quick relief, which is exactly what you’re after in this situation. It’s easy to apply, not overly messy, and starts working without much delay. Doesn’t magically fix everything overnight, but it definitely makes things far more manageable. One of those “keep it in the cupboard just in case” items — hopefully not needed often, but very effective when it is. Five stars. Not a fun purchase… but a very useful one.

Before using this cream I was using Anusol. No effect. I was literally pushing what felt like razor blades & lemon juice for about 2 weeks. I was in tears everytime I went to do the business. This medicine healed me fast within a coupel of days and allowed me to sleep so peacefully and conduct my days without pain and fear. Combined this with the suppositories for the full benefit. Thank you so much!

There is very little elegant when treating haemorrhoids, bending over with your finger up your bum applying cream or suppositories isn't going to ever be elegant. But it can be effective in providing comfort, relief and healing to what can be a very painful experience. Over the years I have suffered from haemorrhoids, due to needing strong pain relief medication and also having restricted mobility at times. For the above reasons I have become somewhat an expert at dealing with Anal fissures, thrombosed haematomas, haemorrhoids - both external and internal. Of all the over the counter medications available I seem to come back to this very firm favourite, the ointment being less messy and easier to apply (when cold and firm) over that of the cream. I do prefer the finger to apply the ointment over that of the applicator, you never know how much is going up your back passage when using the applicator. The ointment can leave greasy stains on your underwear, but a quick wipe can reduce that. The suppositories are much cleaner in that respect BUT, and this is certainly the clincher, the cooling and soothing sensation felt when applying the ointment is amazingly comforting. It is the only product that I have found which gives this sensation, even their suppositories do not do this. The lidocaine seems to have a suitable numbing effect, it must do as it can make my finger feel a little numb after applying it...! Overall, having tried many of the alternatives, I feel that I can thoroughly recommend this ointment. Apart from the process of how you need to apply it, inevitable considering what you are dealing with, and it potentially leaving some stains on your underwear, I do recommend it. When I tried the suppositories I did feel a little vulnerable if I needed to fart immediately after inserting one. After all they are torpedo shaped and thus went I walked around with clenched butt cheeks for a while after inserting. The suppositories are much cleaner to use but the most deterring part of using those is the lack of soothing and cooling sensation which simply makers up for the finger up the bum part of applying the ointment. After all you need to do the same with the suppositories. FWIW I found both the Boots alternative and Anusol to also be lacking the soothing feel that you get when using this ointment. Of course prior to using this I did get checked out by the doctor and then a gastro specialist who did a colonoscopy and CT scan with contrast, along with blood tests etc. Always better to be sure with what you are dealing with. Best of luck to anyone who is needing this ointment and I do hope that you find the relief that it has offered me.

Now then, you’re not going to tell all your old school friends on Facey that you’ve got piles, so the only outlet I have is here, the place where a wonderful warehouse picker chose this tube of extra strong breath mints for your swollen nethers & then dispatched it with its mildly threatening nozzle (which looks like a traffic cone considering where it can optionally be probed), arriving less than 24 hours after I declared to my husband that sitting down was no longer an option, ouch, please run me a bath and pass the crisps or I might do myself an unnecessary. I didn’t hold out much hope as this little spite marble has been the cause of much yodelling and exclamations of unladylike expressions that have been tantamount to me almost being put off my food. Joke. That’s impossible. I digress. Has it shrunk everything back into place and left me patched up and fixed? No. Has it felt like breathing outside in the frost with a mouth full of menthol cough sweets? YES IT HAS. However, this ongoing and frankly spicy sensation has diverted my squirrel like brain into believing I have no pain. It needs slathering on like icing and if your devil grape is internal you’ll need to do things to yourself that even my gynaecologist hasn’t been near with aforementioned traffic cone (tiny, well rounded nozzle. Thing.) But it does offer tremendous relief and less need to contemplate drinking heavily on a school night. Worth every squeeze of the tube and gloved finger (I recommend rubber, not woolly) just for the temporary but welcomed relief.
