Is this product water soluble? How easy is it to wash out of your hair?

Yes this product is water soluble. It easily mixes with water if you choose to use some to lighten up the hold. Washes out of hair much easier than other pomades.

Is this the new or old formula?

It's a new formula that came out this year i believe. It used to be water based but it is now aloe based.

Does this have a matte or sheen look

If you compare too most clays that are very matte, this has a slight sheen. If you compare to pomades, it has a very low (no) sheen. The sheen in american gardens also disappear quite fast. American gardens is by far my faveourite clay, very unique product. However if you want a very Matte look, you`ll be better off with another styling clay.
