I'm glad I didn't install this anywhere permanent. It's been powered on in my office for less than 3 months and sections of the numbers are already burning out so you can't read it at certain temps. Not worth the price if it fails that quickly. A shame because the temp readings were accurate. Update: Seller saw my review and sent me a replacing ASAP.

Had some issues with my 12 yr old (!) Solar water heater, needed to replace sensor and circulator pump. Was not sure of the controller, and since the tank and roof sensors were 10k NTC, I bought this meter to troubleshoot. Could have built it into a small case with switches, etc., but instead simply attached a 9v battery with some "sticky tape" (used for weather-sealing outdoor coax) to the bottom, bought some wire leads with connectors ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JFFDWN ) and wired them into my sensor leads. Very quick and dirty works perfectly to get temp readings from the tank, roof, and water faucet by simply attaching the relevant lead to the back of the display module. Allows easy adjustment of hot water temperature, will buy another on shortly. Calibrated nicely at 32 degrees in an ice bath, did not check high end. Note reading will only up to 167 degrees F, above that flashes "HHH". Similarly low end flashes "LLL" when sensed temperature is too low.

4.5 stars. The one I received can not be calibrated. It's a single pcb directly soldered to the led display with no pot. I tested and accuracy was within one degree from other instrumentation. It is super bright, and for my use I added an amber film to dampen the brightness. Wires can be extended as needed.

Solid thermometer for the price. The temperatures did read slightly high. Next to a nice thermometer that said 72, this one said 74. I added a 480 ohm resistor to the probe and it calibrated it down 2 degrees. I then extended the probe leads using 10' of 18 gauge wire. It functions just the same and read down to 9 degrees with the probe in the freezer. The indicators are very bright but some tint film easily solved that. They look great on my dash and i'm quite happy with them.

First the wire to go out in the elements is so short you almost have to put the read out on the door! Then it guit working four days after I installed it. And I don’t know if they will replace it! I will check on eBay to see what they have.

Added This to my Jeep for outside temp reading. Bright display. Accurate. Looks nice. I ordered a second one.

It’s a very simple design, and the size is just right. Its simple design will allow for easy installation. Mine is attached to the ceiling of my tower with a magnet hot glued to the plastic housing of the temperature gauge. It only has three wires, one negative black in color, one positive red in color and the sensor wire black in color. There’s not much that can go wrong.
