I've had this printer for close to 7 years now, and it is still working flawless. The ink last a long, long time, and is very cheap to replace, unlike other printers where the ink only last a short time, and is expensive to replace. This is the only printer I ever brand I ever plan to buy if I ever have to replace this one.

I bought this Canon multi-function printer as a replacement for an older Canon printer that finally failed due to a small sensor in the paper feeder that would have cost more to repair than the whole printer originally cost. I wanted a wireless printer so all the devices in our house could share it, and the difference between a hard wired and a wireless printer was minimal. Software installation was relatively simple from the CD that was included. The hardest part was tapping in my wireless network's security code through the small touch-sensitive screen on the front of the printer, but I soon got the hang of it. This is normally a one-time task that I have not needed to repeat. Despite having been told by Canon that the printer is not supported on Windows XP, I am successfully printing from XP thru Windows 10 machines. This printer prints, copies, scans and faxes, just as the previous printer did. However, as I said, the wireless function lets multiple devices print to it from anywhere in the house, and I can also control the scanner remotely and have the file sent directly to the device that initiated the scanning. Printing also is much faster than on the prior machine. I have not yet tested the fax function, but I do not expect problems. The only downside from the exchange of printers is that the new printer uses a different ink cartridge than the old one. However, third-party cartridges are available at a reasonable price. I continue to be amazed that such a multifunction printer can be bought as cheaply (~$120) as it is (including free shipping)! I highly recommend this model. This laser printer only prints in black and white, on one or both sides of a sheet of paper. The output is much crisper than most I have seen from color printers, and black and white satisfies 99% of my needs. For the other 1% I take a thumb drive to Staples or Office Depot.

I got so tied of buying inkjet printers time and time again only to have them die after a couple years of use from slew of issues I almost never print out photos so color printing isn't a huge deal to me. So I decided to pony up the cash for a decent toner-based all in one printer. My hope being that I can get away from the constant problems I had with inkjets headers always clogging on me and the ink packs never getting me very far. MAN did I choose well, this printer is great. I can print out a page in 3 secs flat and subsequent pages in 1 sec. That's faster than every inkjet I've ever owned. The print quality is perfect. Very crisp. The double sided printing is fantastic. It doesn't drastically slow down the printing process like most injets. The quickest inkjet I owned did double sided printing at a rate of about 22 sec per sheet. This printer manages about 4 secs per double sided sheet. Setup is stupid easy. You can tell a modest amount of care went into the software and on screen steps of the printer. I was able to connect the printer to my laptop and PC in about 20 mins (60% of which was me getting use to the button controls). One thing that would be nice here is a full qwerty keyboard for entering in wifi passwords. The old school texting style works but hard to get use to. But at the same time that's a lot to manufacture for a tool that's only used once in a blue moon. So I can get that design choice. Scanning is nice and quick too. Very good quality, no complaints there. I'm very happy with this printer. I'll check back in 6 months for an update as to how things are holding up. I'm interested to see if my toner cartridge lives up to the specs!

When I started hunting for a new printer, I had a laundry list of needs. It had be be LASER; it had to be able to do multiplex printing; it had to have a built-in fax, scanner, and copier. Also important to me was that I didn't have buy separate roller assembly; I wanted the type of printer where the roller was part of the cartridge. I also looked at various printers to see what the replacement cost of cartridges would be. So, when I found this printer, it came really close to meeting my needs. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and am getting to know its pluses and minuses fairly well. I'll start by saying that while the print quality is fine for me, ironically, it is not as good as my very, very, very old, extremely inexpensive HP laser printer. This printer is much larger than it looks in the display photo, but I can live with that. It's very efficient at duplex printing. My one issue -- which would require Canon to add this feature -- is that I wish there were a way to switch the printer to MANUAL DUPLEX. The reason is that some documents must be turned in (especially horizontal ones) in order to print properly on both sides. Otherwise, you end up with one side upside down. The outgoing fax works great as does the WiFi printing. I did have to call customer service to assist me with the WiFi set up. The instruction book is virtually worthless. I know some people have complained about the problems of incoming faxes. I never receive incoming faxes, so this was a non-issue for me. I guess no printer is perfect, but this one is pretty good and also priced right.

I've had this monochrome laser printer all-in-one for about a month and, so far, it's been exactly what I was expecting. I had no trouble setting it up, however, I used a USB connection and did not try to set up a wireless connection. My only (minor) issue was a poorly written and diagrammed installation guide. It wasn't that tough though. It's very fast for two-sided printing and even faster for one-sided. Initially, I thought the printed pages seemed a bit light, but I don't feel that way anymore. For me, the big plus was that it prints in black, but scans and faxes in color. It's fairly compact and holds quite a bit more paper than the inkjets I have used in the past. It shuts down not long after each print job (saving power), but comes back to life instantly when the next job starts. Call me very happy so far!

I was NOT able to get the printer to work on my PC despite many hours of trying. The documentation for configuration is as incomplete and deficient as any I have seen for years. I was able to get the printer to work on my Mac. But after one day the printer stopped working. After waiting on hold for almost an hour and talking with tech support for 30 min, the printer works as it should. I hope it will work tomorrow. Update after 30 days. I had to call Cannon support again and wait on hold for 30 min and thentalk with them for another 30+ minutes. But the printer still is not working properly. Each morning when i turn on my computer I have to turn the printer on and off before it will print. I fear it will develop other problems after the return period, so I am returning it. Pity. When it works, it works well. The one thing that I like is the ease of printing 2 sided (when I finally got the drivers installed with the help of tech support). Update: I now have had the printer about 2 weeks. It is buggy. On about half the days, the first page I try to print does not print until I turn the printer on and off. I called Cannon tech support again, waited online for 30 minutes and after another 20 minutes the tech support figured out that this problem was due to my connecting the printer through an unpowered USB hub. When I plugged the computer into the mac mini directly, this latest problem seemed to be solved. Two days later the printer again did not print when I turned on my computer. After I turned the printer off and on, the printer began functioning properly. I hope this is not a symptom of a problem that will happen after the 30 day return period.

After three years using another brand, time came to replace that unit and i'm so glad that it happened. This printer works like a charm, very quiet, has an option to use double side printing if you want (save some papers). One of the best thing is at the beginning i needed help to set it up correctly for the first time (we all know how things can turn if you don't for the network users), called support and shockingly i talked to someone in the US and he was very helpful. Best experience i had in a very long time. Canon now is on my top of the list when it comes to devices i might need in the future. Very nice printer in every way, fax, copying, turning copies to PDF file and e-mail them, etc. etc.

We owned another Canon ImageClass multifunction printer that we used for over seven years. It never died, but we wanted something faster that also had the Wi-Fi networking capability, so bought this MF247dw. This model prints fine and speedily so. Print quality is good. However, shortly after it went out of warranty, the automatic document feeder started acting up, producing slanted printed copies and scanned images. We have cleaned the rollers and positioned the paper in all sorts of ways but not been able to eliminate the crooked printing and scanning (this problem does not occur if printing/scanning is done without the ADF). Our old ImageClass MF4150 in more than seven years never developed this kind of issue, so we have not been impressed that the newer MF247dw did after only a little over one year of service. It is now two years old and may already face a replacement because of this (likely with a non-Canon model). We have used a variety of Canon products over the years and been quite happy about them, but this MFP is an exception. It has not lived up to the expectations we have come to have for Canon. One last thing: Canon USA's tech support is middling at best and downright frustrating at other times. It takes an inordinate amount of time and efforts to get official Canon answers, and the company appears to largely let the community forums take care of the customers (help supplied by at-large community members rather than Canon's own tech support reps).

Well quite the set up...took some doing but likely just the operator...moi lol! Hmmm😏Instructions were a bit too heavy I'd say-so I guess I was over thinking things perhaps. Thou you do have to set up w an Ethernet compatible/standard cable from the machine to pc it seems @ first (I happened to save mine from a previous owned printer/fax machine that eventually went kaputz..) nice thing w this is it can handle bigger jobs/which I didn't really need, so hoping the ink lasts years w/o drying out...idk⁉ (whereas w an inkjet it didn't take much use before having to change the cartridges which got expensive & messy...) No colour copying here...will take a bit more use to navigate it proficiently...the menu is quite in depth. Must be careful taking out dummy protection sheet from cartridge area/like why do they even do that⁉it tore a small corner off so idk but doesn't seem to interfere w anything. 🤞 professional machine seemingly so far, bulky though...might have earned 5 stars otherwise all the little peeves... Update ~2 years later: yes as another reviewer noted the printer often loses contact w wifi for some reason & air printing is undiscoverable, but usually remedies by turning off then on again or a lot of fiddling & relearning has caused a lot of stress as it’s a pia, and takes patience to reset/remedy.(could be because I had BELL Wifi Internet until recently though!!! And all of the headaches & heartaches of dealing w them-so far I haven’t had any issues w Teksavvy...) it only prints 2 sided copies via wifi/air printing otherwise you’d have to manually flip each page when trying to double side print pages from the machine itself/so not a true 2 sided copier. The MF249dw model I believe does true 2 sided copying... Edit…still going strong in 2023 as a fax/printer and once you get used to it, is a breeze and convenient. Accepts other toner cartridges as well as genuine Canon.

I have had 3 different models of canon printers. I never wore any out I just keep buying newer ones over the years. Simple priced well and you get exactly what you are looking for. Great buy.

For the price, this is a solid Multi Function Unit. The wireless set-up was simple and the speed/ ease of use of the machine is fairly straight forward. At times it feels like there might be too many sub menus, but overall this is a minor thing. If this machine is priced at $100 less than the HP equivalent, I really can't see why you would op for HP over this for the price.

As a printer/scanner, it is excellent (and we do not need a fax). However, the box does not contain a USB cable (to provide a wired link to a computer). I don't know why all new printers come with a "starter" toner cartridge. Price according, but give the buyer a toner cartridge of "normal" capacity. Finally, maybe it would be simple for a technologically competent person, to set the printer up as a wireless printer. Even with external support, it was near impossible and still does not work. Hence the comment about the USB cable.

I have many problems with the HP printers because the input paper tray for most of the ink jet and even small laser printers does not have any cover. So when small object fell on the input paper tray, they will get move into the printer and cause paper jam. That's not an issue with the Canon printer at all! I notice the Canon toner cartridge is a bit more expensive than a HP 85A, but the yield is also higher (prints more pages).
