What is the purpose of the blue glass top ? Does it get clear when coffee is ready?

It's just for decor. I advise to get the clear know. I bought the blue glass top and I could not see the darkness of the coffee brewing, as I like mine strong. I then Dropped the lid and broke the blue top. Faberware the maker, does not sell the knob separately, which I found inconvenient. I had to buy a comparable brand knob. I no longer have this coffee maker. I left it brewing and burned the pot inside. I had the worse luck with coffee makers, cheap or expensive.

Can any kind of coffee be brewed ?

Absolutely...just put coffee grounds according to mild more for stronger coffee. Also brew 30 minutes at medium temperature for stronger, mild needs about 20 minutes.

I dont want a blue top. Can i ask for a clear glass top or do i have to order a generac glass top. If so which do you reccomend

The blue is glass, all replacements I’ve found, are clear, and plastic only for this particular size

How many ounces does this brew? Cup sizes vary.

Since the cups are actually “coffee cups” which are measured at 6 ounces instead of the standard 8 ounces, this vessel holds 76 ounces at the 12-cup mark. I just measured using a cup measure. I use this everyday, and had to measure after reading all these answers that used the standard measure. Just confirmed these are “coffee cups,” not standard cups. Sad that the Manufacturer doesn’t know this.
