This is the 3rd product of this type I’ve purchased. The first was all bamboo. It’s been ok but it’s hard to get the knife to cut through the bottom crust on my crusty sourdough bread without my serrated knife cutting into the bamboo. I have to lift the bread to saw through the bottom crust which doesn't allow for the perfect slices we want when we buy a slicer like this. I also have a cheap little plastic one that works for cutting one or two slices at a time. It’s not at all stable, but it’s lightweight and compact, quick and easy to retrieve from a drawer. The best thing about it- It has knife grooves! I like the grooves so much that I decided to search for a quality slicer with this feature. So here we have a heavy fairly large bread slicer. It’s far better quality than either of my other ones. The outside measurements of the bamboo crumb tray extend more than 9x13. I feel it’s too big to leave out on my counter which means it’s less convenient. However, it’s solid and well thought-out. The crumb tray even has rubber feet to keep it stable when cutting. I appreciate the picture on the packaging showing how it is supposed to be set up. I originally put the bamboo stabilizer on facing the wrong direction. (The grooves should face away from the bread.) Do take note, as the correct setup makes a big difference. It’s very simple to set up and the knife grooves allow me to cut through the bottom crust without sawing into the plastic. Knife grooves are a hard to find feature. Not sure why. I was concerned the slices might be too thin but they are just right. And I can adjust the placement of my bread if I want thicker slices for French toast, for example. The knife grooves help line up the bread to make a straight cut when not pressing it against the bamboo stabilizer, which is what you would do to create even slices that are the thickness it’s set up for. It comes with a cute tote for storing or hanging. In my kitchen, being able to hang it will make it more convenient. I noticed some reviews and videos here are of a different model without the knife grooves and with varied slicing thicknesses. As I write this, the one I’m reviewing is the only option above. It has knife grooves and only thickness for all the slices. I spent a bit more on this bread slicer than I intended to, but upon receiving it, i could really see the difference. It will last and do the job without frustration. I’m pleased.

Awesome bread, slicer, bread, cuts, easily, and evenly. The adjustments are great. It assembles easily and comes apart easily for cleaning and storage. The design is great the board that you’re cutting onto is recessed at each cut point so you’re not tearing up the plastic and the wood. The crumb tray makes for easy cleanup. It’s nice because you you can decide how thick you want. Your slices works great couldn’t be happier.

WHAT I LIKE; it stays very secure to my granite counter. It is not flimsy. The bread knife cuts extremely well. It can adjust for two widths of bread. The unit comes apart to lay flat in the crumb tray that works as the storage compartment. The bag to store it in is well made. WHAT I DON’T LIKE; it takes some finesse to get the ends of two of the boards into the bottom slots since they made them thicker. My biggest complaint is the crumb tray doesn’t work as such. The bread cutting surface is solid over the crumb tray and crumbs don’t fall through like I was hoping. My solution is to tip the whole unit slightly and use a basting brush to brush the crumbs into the sink when I am done. I cut all my slices at once, so this isn’t a problem, but if you were going to leave it out on the counter to cut slices as you wanted, you would see all the crumbs. Would I buy it again? Ultimately Yes because it stays put without sliding and it’s sturdy.

I literally NEVER bother to leave a review, but I am really impressed with this product. I wish I had taken a video when I opened it. I was wowed ! The packaging is impressive and professional. It would be a great gift option. It IS made of plastic, albeit a very sturdy and relatively thick plastic. I love being able to move the “walls” to accommodate different widths of bread. The bamboo tray is great! All crumbs are contained! I really like the bread knife. It’s long and sturdy. The blade is long and I love this! I might have to sharpen it later on. I cut two loaves of bread right away, and am happy with the results. It was so much easier than cutting it “freestyle”, by hand. The slices are relatively even. The board does show scratches from cutting. I expected this. The small bamboo piece that is used on the end isn’t secured. It’s obviously meant to keep the bread in place while cutting. You are already using one hand to hold the bread and one to hold the knife. You are not able to hold on to the board . Maybe there is another way to do this. 🤷‍♀️ This is my only comment on the design. Overall, it’s great. There is a cloth bag to store it. I really like this and am very impressed, thus far. I will give another review after I have used it for a longer time. I have only used it on bread made in a loaf pan, so I’m curious to see how it will accommodate a round loaf, made in a Dutch oven. I think it’s a great value for the money.

This was shipped to me from Amazon without a knife as well as everything was wrapped in plastic wrap and the box resealed. I had a loaf of bread baking so I decided to go with it. The actual cutting board and knife guide are easy to assemble, use and clean. Happy Place has a fine product that you can cut 3/8" slices which is my preference. I would buy again, but it's so well made I probably won't have to...

This bread slicer works very well for bread machine bread. You can adjust for width of the loaf as well as the thickness of the slices. The bread knife is long and slices very well. It is easy to take apart to clean and is easily assembled. Very sturdy. Much better than the other one I had which fell apart every time you used it. I love this bread slicer!

Al cortar el pan se debe poner el cuchillo recto, ya que si se ladea ligeramente se cortan astillas del plástico que pueden caer en el pan. El material de los paneles en apariencia es rígido pero con facilidad se corta el plástico. Es funcional pero sugiero que el material se revise, había leído algo similar en material de bambú. Se lo dejo a los fabricantes.

We have been using this product for a few weeks and have to say we are thrilled with it. Very high quality and thoughtful design. Assembles in less than a minute, and breaks down easily for storage in the included bag (a nice touch). The three width adjustments help keep different loaves tightly in place for secure cutting. For difficult to cut breads with very thick crusts, we use an electric knife which is guided easily by the unit. I took us about 10 minutes of playing around with it to figure it out, but once we got it right, works like a charm. A bit pricier than other units, but we think we’ll worth the slightly higher price. And good for family cohesion - my wife likes thin cut bread and I prefer thicker cuts. So even with the same loaf we each get what we want easily!

Edited review-upped to 4 stars as once you get the process for cutting sorted out, this slicer is very consistent and cuts well. Need to hold and apply a little pressure from the back of the loaf into the board and this makes even slices. I would recommend this product. This product is very sturdy and well made. The bread slide sizes are not as useful as expected as the largest cuts a slice similar to store sliced bread, so the 2 smaller sizes are not useful. A little difficult to get the very bottom of the slice to cut off due to the guide. Slices are not always straight either. Seems to have more “user” flexibility than I wanted so this leads to uneven, inconsistent slices. But for a child or someone not confidant in slicing bread freehand this tool does help and therefore 3 stars over all.
