Safe-T-Plus RV Steering Stabilizer 31-140 Install
I own a 2001 Fleetwood Tioga 24D RV. I purchased the Safe-T-Plus RV Steering Stabilizer 31-140 and proper bracket to attach it Safe-T-Plus RV Steering Stabilizer Mounting Kit (Model: E-340K13) for my RV type and Year. Do not rely on what Amazon recommends! Contact the Safe-T-Plus company by phone or email. Provide them the make, model and year of your RV to get the proper bracket. IMPORTANT: When you install the bracket it must be installed on the Drivers Side onto-with the Stabilizer Bar where it connects to the RV on that Drivers Side. You install one part of the Stabilizer Mounting kit to that area along with the Steering Stabilizer to that bracket. Then you attach the other side of the bracket to your tie rod towards the passenger side of your RV. Make sure that you install it LEVEL in line with the tie rod. Then you perform you test drive and do your final alignments by adjusting it on the connection to the tie rod only! Make sure it is level with your tie rod. There is a Video you can watch on the Safe-T-Plus web side that shows you an install and explains how to adjust your steering stabilizer to keep your RV centered when driving it. This made such a HUGE difference on how the RV performs making it so much easier to drive it and not have to worry about blow back when being passed by an 18 Wheeler or other large vehicle. It always moves you steering wheel back to center for you making driving your RV so much more fun! I highly recommend this if you own an RV. All of the Safe-T-Plus RV Steering Stabilizers install the same way, no matter which model you get that is for your Size of RV. It's well worth the price & peace if mind you will have when driving your RV with this device installed.

Definitely helps to stabilize RV steering, does it's job!
Used it to replace a very old unit on my 1992 Bounder RV. The new unit made a good improvement to the RV steering reducing the effects of cross winds, road ruts and passing or being passed by semi trucks. Makes driving the RV noticeably less stressful! You do have to do some test drives and make a couple adjustments to make sure that the unit is centered or in its neutral position when the RV is driving exactly straight but this wasn't too hard. Overall a very worthwhile addition!

Safe-T-Plus 31-140 Class C (replacement)
It ended up being a no brainer when it came to the replacement of a worn out Safe-T-Plus system. Our existing Safe-T-Plus system looked pretty old, we don't really know because it was already in place when we purchased the RV. Worse case we're looking at 20 years maximum .... kind of old. I was going to repaint the Safe-T-Plus cylinder it but it broke during removal, stimulating the need to purchase a new alternative system or replacement stabilizer and possibly mounts. This is where the work came in. Two days of internet surfing, reading forums, researching Safe-T-Plus's warranty and coverage possibilites, competition parts and even components including entirely different systems. Roadmaster was a close choice but we didn't like the fact that the spring is not in a case and protected. So here we are, even after swearing alligence to a newer and possibly cheaper "name brand" manufacturer. Compare all you want, form your own opinion of course, but everything I learned led me to decide that Safe-T-Plus manufactures unique and robust spring loaded steering stabilizers that have very little worthwile comparable competition. My best advice is to stick with the recommended kit and stabilizer no matter which manufacturer you choose. The replacement installation took under an hour and there was plenty of video documentation available online for my exact model. After replacement the RV no longer wanders from side to side. The new 31-140 stabilizer tightened up the front end including the alignment. The RV can now do highway speeds safely. 2004 Winnebago Class C

A must upgrade for any motorhome!
This is hands down the best upgrade I've made to our 2017 E-450 chassis based class C! No more white knuckling the steering wheel while being tossed about by passing semis or side wind gusts. No more wandering on the road and over-steering. No more fighting being pulled by ruts or uneven pavement. Fatigue from driving is cut drastically allowing the ability to easily drive even with one hand...like driving a really large SUV now. These should be standard equipment on any motor home. First had an alignment done on our new unit which yielded very negligible improvement. Replacing the OEM stabilizer (designed for a van, not an RV's weight) makes all the difference in the world. The OEM stabilizer is so week, you can actuate it bare handed with very little effort. See picture for comparison with OEM unit removed.
