So start by saying that due to the lack of stock in Portugal in the main retailers I chose to buy outside the European Union (in this case Amazon UK, since Amazon ES had no stock) I was a little afraid because I was afraid that the order could come wrong and/or damaged, but thank god it was not the case, as you can see in the pictures it arrived without any problem and with the "bonus" product that I asked for, in addition to being 100% operational, for now I will give it 4 stars because I still haven't been able to test for a long time due to work, in 1 week I will give 5 stars or below 4 depending on what I think of my experience. Bearing in mind that this is my first ever Switch. *Update* So after 1 week of testing with the console I can finally give my opinion about it and I hope I can help some of you who still have doubts about the product. For starters I must say that if you have the Nintendo Switch V2 I don't recommend upgrading to the Oled model, why? Because, you will be paying 50 more pounds / euros (depending on your country) just for a screen with 0.8 mm more BUT if it's your first Switch don't look at either the V2 or the Lite if you can spend a little more take it the OLED. It is a very beautiful console in terms of design and the OLED screen is something special. Now speaking in terms of games, I can only give an example with Assassin's Creed III Remastered since it is (for now) the only game I have, the port of AC3 for Switch is quite good considering the console's limitation but still they have some bugs in relation, for example, to the PC version, but I really liked the remodeling they did to run it on the Switch, but I still don't consider it one of the best games for the switch, if I were you I would buy one of the ones I'm going to put under: - Pokemon Legends Arceus -Super Mario Odyssey - Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl - Zelda: Breath of the Wild But again for the console's limitation it's a very well done port. The battery (Doubt that many people have) does not have an exact number of hours, it depends on many factors such as: The game the console is running, Brightness Intensity, etc. In my case, with the brightness at maximum and running AC3 the battery lasts about 4h to 4h30 (which is quite a lot, believe me). Recommendations that I propose for your Switch, buy some "grips" for the protection of the joysticks, a tempered glass, (I recommend the Tempered glass that I put in the photos of Ivoler, very good quality and it takes less than 1 minute to install which is quite simple) and a Bag and/or backpack for your OLED Switch, and if u buy it in Amazon UK but u live in European Union buy an Adapter UK to EU plug. And that's all I hope it helped you in your decision. Thoughts of a 51 year old gamer dad. I wish people would stop faulting the system because of People’s Greed. The Switch isn’t at fault - it’s scalpers and resellers that use bots to buy up all the stock in a heartbeat and then resell at 2-5 times MSRP. The problem with the current Pre-Order system is merchants like Wally, Amazonian, Besties Buy, and others allow this practice to continue to happen. Your anger needs to be directed at them for not doing something to prevent this. Limiting sales of 1 per house hold, Address, or verified IP address would limit this but all these retailers seem either too dumb or just don’t care to enact it because they are selling their stock. This same issue has happened with PS5s and the newer Xbox’s too. However Tar-jaé 🎯 does limit their sales. Which is how I was able to get a system for my son and myself. One of each color. Anyway I didn’t want this to be the review of the purchase - because I understand peoples frustration, just they are taking their anger out on the product instead of the real reason that is upsetting them. As to the Switch OLED, it is by far the superior system. There is a premium feel to this new unit compared to the older version. For and extra $50 you are getting double memory space out of the box, a true glass OLED screen which makes your whole library of Switch games come back alive. There is no comparison….the OLED screen is stunningly beautiful. You can really tell on any game that has black on screen. Luigi’s Mansion, Metroid Dread, and any underground Mario level, and Breath of the Wild will simply take your breath away…again. Then the build quality is just incredible. The bezel on the front (what there is of it) is metal, the body length kick stand and side rails are all metal. So, Joy Cons not only lock into place but feel incredibly sturdy this time around. No Hamburglar “wobble wobble” - if you get that joke you’re my people. A newer designed dock with has 4K upscaling built in? And the included HDMI cable is also 4K compatible this time around….those all inflate the cost of production so I can’t see that being a coincidence. Nintendo has plans to use those upgrades. So all the complaints I’ve heard about the $50 price bump seem nonsensical. I’d honestly say it’s worth more then $350 but Nintendo did what it did to keep it at that price point - including scaling down the packaging this time around to save on cost where they could….which I would rather have more system and less cardboard. So when you can, and find these in the wild or back on retail shelves - Don’t line a scalpers pocket - you should definitely upgrade your system if you’re a Nintendo fan. I personally love the system and my son loves his. They were well worth the retail price.

Full and pretty long Nintendo Switch OLED review, from a serious gamer. Ummed and arred about this console for quite some time before taking the plunge and buying it with a bundle, case, game and SD card. I have other individual reviews for those products on my profile. When I say I am serious about gaming I am playing at least 5 times a week have been playing now for over 2 decades and have had all the latest consoles, handhelds and PC’s so am confident I can give a full review of this console. I haven't purchased online so couldn't comment on that side of the Switch but everything else I have engaged with. First of nice and simple I like it I’m also glad I have it. The OLED Switch is the one I think you should go for in my personal opinion, having played on the normal Switch and seeing the size of the Lite Switch I feel like for the extra money the OLED is the best choice. Also the Switch lite is unable to dock and remove it’s controllers which is half the point of the Switch in my opinion. The blacks and colours really pop on the small OLED screen, and the majority of games really do look visually great. (More on the TV bit later.) You get that little bit extra screen size with the OLED but at no extra addition to the console size. The screen size is really decent, I was surprised in a good way that I wasn’t struggling to see everything on the screen or read text. Mainly as they know the games are on Switch zoom in and the text becomes enlarged so you can easily read it. Hand held visuals I’d rate 8/10. The games are really well done, as anyone will know Nintendo know what they are doing, and you get the full Nintendo experience here, it is one that they have perfected over the years. There are also new ones to engage with new player, but veterans will feel at home with returning classics and updated character games which make you feel right at home. The online store too also has what seems like an endless (it isn’t) number of games on sale all the time, it’s around about 1100 at any one given time, these range from really basic games that are only found on the store which can be £0.90 or the known Nintendo titles that have 20% off the main price. But there is something for everyone some of the smaller titles are fun, well designed and easy going, I have enjoyed both Lost in Bermuda and Trifox games from the store which I picked up for next to nothing. This is really nice coming from console and PC gaming were the price of gams can exceed £100 so paying 90p is a really nice change. Even the cheap games are well done too which is nice, it seems like the developers do take their time with the games, I assume that this is the case as the switch store is the only store front where you can sell games for the switch platform. Games I’d rate 9/10 The console itself is a nice design visually one that does look simple yet modern. However I feel like it could be a little too flat/ thin for those used to a controller or with slightly larger hands. Whilst you can buy ergonomic attachments or stand-alone controllers, this is for the standard controllers that come with the Switch. I fell as if the Steam Deck design is far superior the thicker handles fit in the hand much better for comfortability and for longer periods of gaming. The charging point too is also at the bottom, which gets in the way more than you might think and you unable to stand the console up really when charging, without bending or resting the console on the charging cable, something I don’t like doing. The stand and buttons that you press do feel good too, my only gripe is the back bumper buttons aren’t spaced as well as I would have liked and those with slightly larger fingers may find it hard to hit the right bumper button as required. Having said that for children which is probably the larger intended audience it probably works really well, also there is no stick drift for me yet, and the buttons feel like they have been designed to last for a long time. Design/ ergonomics of the console I’d rate 6/10. The TV mode is the big, advertised part of the Switch and probably why it got its name. This is something I really haven’t done all that much, but I will say that I have a 4k 32” all singing all dancing gaming monitor which on my PC looks gorgeous, absolutely stunning visuals, (review on my page.) Now I know it isn’t as powerful yes and I wasn’t expecting it to be as good but I wasn’t exactly blown away (I played Lego Star Wars,) again it’s ok but I wasn’t impressed, its 720p output really isn’t all that much in today’s market with ultra 4k, ray tracing and the works, so I’ve kept mine in handheld mode pretty much 99% of the time of ownership. As I have a PC this really wasn’t my intended use for the Switch so if it is something you’re thinking about having as a main home entertainment system for the TV I would look at the Xbox series S, for slightly cheaper you’re going to get a much better picture. Visual for TV mode I’d give a 4/10. The portability factor is good. Its big enough that you can see a lot of stiff on the screen at any one given time, but its small enough to fit into my jogging bottom front pocket and fits into a bag and can be easily carried around without weighing you down all day. It’s something that I like to be able to pick up and put down I can take it to work play a couple levels of Mario and then put it away again ready for whenever that maybe. Having a case is a must, as the joy cons could easily get damaged as well as the screen could become easily scratched if it is lose in a bag all day. Portability I’d rate 10/10. Overall, I really do genuinely love the Switch, I recently sold my consoles as I am fully PC now but have still kept my switch. The games are great its portable and it looks surprisingly good in handheld mode on the OLED variant. Yes, the ergonomics aren’t perfect and yes, I would like it if they were better as we know it is possible as we have the Steam deck to prove that they can be better. However, if it is that much of an issue there are excellent 3rd party add-ons you can get to make the Switch more comfortable for those longer game sessions. This is something I think people of all ages and game abilities will like, the majority of games are fun, and it’s nice not to have to shoot something all the time for once, (there are shooters for those of you who want them.) I highly recommend it for handheld gaming at home or on the move, I wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for this as your only gaming console and your looking to play this mostly on a TV, I would as mentioned have to recommend a PS4/5 or Xbox s/x for gaming on the TV. Hope this helps someone make their decision, I think you'll like it from what I have experienced with the Switch so far.

Today I’m finally reviewing the Nintendo Switch OLED which Nintendo launched at the end of 2021 this new model keeps most of the classic features from the original 2017 Switch like handheld tabletop and TV modes still got USB-C charging HD rumble and those little Joy-Con straps to save your TV but Nintendo’s added some nice updates like a wider stand more storage a wired LAN port and most importantly a larger 7-inch OLED screen Inside the box you get the new white Joy-Cons (they’re the same as the original so you can swap them if needed) the console itself HDMI cable USB-C power cable Joy-Con grip and straps and the dock for connecting to your TV set-up is straightforward just power it on sign in update and you’re good to go First impressions this new screen looks incredible the 7-inch OLED display is bigger brighter and has amazing viewing angles colours are super vibrant and black levels are deep without any washed-out areas even though it’s still only 720p in handheld the screen quality makes a huge difference the bezel around the screen is also slimmer which makes the device look much sleeker and the old Switch feels a bit dated now in comparison The console design is similar to the original black front and sides with the Nintendo Switch logo on the back the new stand is a big upgrade it’s wider and more stable which is a massive improvement over that flimsy kickstand on the 2017 model underneath the stand there’s a microSD card slot to expand the 64GB storage by up to 2TB ports are the same with a USB-C at the bottom for docking and charging power button volume controls headphone jack and cartridge slot on top The Joy-Cons are unchanged in design and feel and they still work with the older model you can attach them to the sides for handheld mode use them separately with wrist straps or slot them into the Joy-Con grip for a more traditional controller feel personally I find them easier to use connected to the screen but it’s nice to have options Performance-wise the CPU and GPU are the same so there’s no difference in gameplay still not 4K even in docked mode which might disappoint some but it does go up to 1080p on the TV the new dock includes a LAN port for wired internet which wasn’t on the old version and has extra USB ports for more connectivity battery life is the same as before lasting about 5 to 9 hours which should be fine for most people So is the OLED model worth it short answer yes if you don’t already have a Switch or if you plan to use it in handheld mode often the OLED screen alone makes this version worth it the improved screen quality wider stand and extra storage make the overall experience better but if you only play docked you won’t see much difference on your TV for me the upgrade was worth it and I’m happy with the new screen and features.

It was touch and go at first sight but there’s no buyer’s remorse here. Switch OLED has given my Switch library a new lease of life this week. We were all disappointed when this was announced in place of the longed for Switch ‘Pro’. Now I’ve bought this I can only hope Nintendo doesn’t make the cruellest move and release that mythical upgraded console next year. I upgraded to the OLED from the launch model. After more than four years of incredible service, it felt like it was time just for fear of losing 1000 hours of Splatoon 2 playtime and progression. It hasn’t been a transformative experience in all cases but introducing Metroid Dread to an OLED display absolutely was that. Even with Nintendo now two generations behind PlayStation and Xbox, Switch games can still have a wow factor. It comes set to ‘vivid’ display by default. While this looks stunning for Metroid, it can make a game like Animal Crossing look oversaturated to me and you might want to swap to ‘standard’ display in the settings for some games. Standard is still superior to the old Switch but I’d love to have a slider to be able to choose a more personal preference. On some level it’s like having a colour option of 50 and 70 on your TV and nothing in between. The battery life is a welcome upgrade as well. I was playing last night at around 25% and expecting the warning to come up but it lasted a lot longer than I’m used to. As a handheld, a screen that’s easier to see outside (still unfortunately reflective, though) and a battery that lasts longer make this a fantastic upgrade. For those who play exclusively or mainly docked, it offers next to nothing. The dock now comes with an Ethernet LAN port but anyone who cares about that must already have the dongle by now. Even so, it has always been far better for online games. And while the white dock looks fresh and cool in photos, in all honesty it kinda looks and feels cheaper to me in real life. The bezel around the OLED screen is thinner which makes for a larger screen and just makes the Switch looks classier. This is another obvious upgrade but it also means the actual screen rather than the bezel now touches the dock as you slide it in and out. On top of looking better the OLED screen is also less prone to scratches. Having been docked and undocked many times since 2017, my Switch never actually got any scratches to worry about. That said, it has been an undeniable problem for some and rubbing the screen against the dock doesn’t feel great. The dock should have been improved further, basically. The speakers have also been improved but it’s not something to get excited about and I’ve carried on using headphones anyway for the best experience. Similarly the kickstand has been upgraded. It’s much larger and more robust and can now rest at various angles. Again, while it’s an undeniable improvement, I never had a problem with the old kickstand. As for actual cons, some have said the game card flap is harder to open. I can see why it might be but its not a complaint I share? My nemesis is dust. This thing is currently a dust magnet and the tiny gap between the screen and unit is collecting some of that dust which is difficult to clean out. There’s a lot to be frustrated at Nintendo with. This wasn’t the new Switch we expected to be buying in late 2021. Switch OLED is a genuinely fantastic handheld but the TV aspect of the hybrid console is falling farther behind. But we can never stay mad at Nintendo for long because Metroid Dread is one of the games of the year and they’ve found a way to make it look fabulous up against Ratchet & Clank and Forza Horizon 5. An absolutely essential purchase? Not really. One I’m glad I made anyway, despite the heavy price? Yes. With Breath of the Wild 2, Splatoon 3 and Bayonetta 3 headlining 2022, the future on Switch OLED is bright … and colourful.

I am a great gamer. I always have the latest console and a pile of adventure and sim games. Until i slipped up!! I didn't buy the Switch. Never thought there was a need for it if i am honest, Christmas was coming up hard on 2022 and Santa decided i had been a good girl....in short i got my 1st Switch. I powered it up and turned it on after inserting a pokemon game Pokemon violet.....ooooohhhh, i suddenly saw exactly what i had been missing. Cheez & crackerz!!! I was and am still in love. Now, this particular console was my second, if you read the saga of the shroom charging dock you will see why, i got it for a great price from Amazon which took a little of the sting out of HAVING to buy another console. That said, would i be without my Switch??? Not on your Nelly!!! My Animal crossing new horizons game is my constant companion. Wake up, ablutions, coffee, then animal crossing for an hour - also now i have Fae farm, excellent game btw i alternate a little. The sound is fantastic, i don't hear well, so that says something. The graphics are seamless, beautiful a real escape from the grey texture the real World is carrying since the dreaded C word. Quite honestly, i am ecstatic i have my console and it has given me hours, days, nae....months of joy. I love this item, i bought a carry case and slip it over my shoulder when i'm out anywhere. Does that say a lot about my life, probably! But it says a lot about Nintendo Switch. There is a list, a sheer litany of games. Point and click adventures, none losing anything in the transfer, Pokemon old and new bigger and better, adventure games new and older, puzzles, sports, the point is there really is something for everyone. The console is easy to setup, easy to setup on your huge tv couple of HDMI cables popped in and away you go. The console is very intuitive, silky and smooth and the buttons are just in the right places. I cannot extol the virtues of it enough. Something i especially love is.....since Covid, people seem to be less tolerant of each other and i am noticing games like AnimalCrossing & Fae farm is teaching the younger kids how to be kind, they also speak to children instead of at them....teaching them about obscure types of fish,animals etcetera. I truly enjoy yhe Switch and when i feel a little low, i drop into one of my sim games and lose my worries for a time. I love Nintendo consoles and boast having most if not them all. This one to me so far is the best. Here endeth war and peace!!!

I not a big fan of consoles. But some of my friends have the switch so I thought I'd try one out. Oh Boy I'm delighted with it and the quality of software on them. But same about the cost of the top games costing you and arm and a leg. They are some sweet fun games to play only costing a few pence to a few pounds. The ones I have I paid full price around £30/£50 each. One game in particular I thought I would hate cos it never interested me Animal Crossing New Horizons. I have to admit it I'm shocked at myself I play this a fair bit now and its fun when your with friends online. Shame you need a subscription to play online as we already pay for our internet why the heck do we need to pay to play with friends is bad. None the less I paid for a yearly subscription and try to forget that I had ever paid for it. Overall the switch is a great console you can add your wii u characters over to it.
