Any recommendation for keyboard and mouse without usb receiver?

The mouse and keyboard will not work without the USB receiver supplied with it.

How does it connect to MacBook ?

It will connect to any computer that has a USB A port, or if your computer has only USB C you can connect it with a USB C to USB A adaptor. It will work with any computer running Windows, OSX, Linux or any other operating system because to the computer it just looks like a USB keyboard. So if your MacBook is an older one that has a USB A port just plug in the dongle and the keyboard will immediately work. If you have one of the newer MacBooks that only has USB C then you'll need an adaptor.
