Great bag--poor organization
I bought this bag because of the concealed carry options it offers, to replace my similarly styled Shangri-La sling. I have to say, I was disappointed with a couple of things.First, this bag is a bit larger than the Shangri-La, without being unwieldy or bulky, so I consider that a plus. It is sturdy, well made, and attractive, like all Maxpedition products I have used. But this bag really falls short in terms of organization. Unlike the far cheaper Shangri-La, which has a very nice admin pouch for pens and the like, the Mongo has--nothing. Yes, it has a lot of space for attaching accessories internally via some very robust velcro, but in order to get this bag set up in a way that you can actually use it--it will need some accessories right out of the box. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since customizing EDC bags is a nice feature, but having an admin compartment is standard these days, and to see only an empty pouch left me a bit irritated.Aside from that, there are plenty of pockets and pouches to carry things. Personally, I don't like the water bottle pouch that most of these bags have now days, and would rather see something different, but you can still cram stuff in there so it is not useless. Many have complained about the "Cell phone" pouch up near the strap being too small. While I would agree it is far too small to carry any of the modern phones, it is certainly perfectly sized to hold a flashlight or multitool.YOu won't be disappointed with this bag, just be prepared to accessorize to get it set up the way you want. In terms of price, I don't think this bag warrants a price tag of 3x the Shangri-La bag, which is every bit as sturdy. Although slightly smaller, it offers far better organizational functionality in stock trim.

MY FAVORITE BAG!!!
I have a bit of a bag collection. I have every possible kind of bag from leather purses to countless tactical bags I use every day instead of carrying a purse. I have had my first maxpedition versipack for more then 8 years and I still carry it sometimes. When I saw that they made this bag I was so excited because it is so much larger than even the larger of the small versipacks. It has everything the smaller version has and more. It is compact enough to not be in the way when empty and when you need the room it really can handle almost anything you can stuff into it. On the daily I use the conceal carry pocket to keep my sidearm, two spare magazines and two pocket knives. This is all kept in place and easy to get to because of the Velcro wall on the back of the carry pocket. The water bottle pocket is big enough to carry a 64 oz water bottle. The retention strap is amazing to keep the bag nice and tight to my body when I long board with it and when I don’t, it tucks away. The front pocket also has Velcro so you can use it for any number of things including a carry pocket. The main pocket is large enough I used it to carry my laptop and book to attend school when I didn’t want to drag out a whole bag just for one class. This is truly a one is all you need kind of bag. If you are traveling or just for every day it is so endlessly adaptable that since I bought it nearly a year ago I have not touched any of my other bags. The last thing I will say is that having owned my first maxpedition bag more than Fifteen years and having more than 7 since then, I can tell you with out a doubt these things are built to last. I still have everyone I have ever bought.

Great bag, Maxpedition makes very durable gear. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this again
Stepped up from a jumbo Versipack. The Mongo is basically the same thing but a couple inches wider. In some of the Maxpedition page images, this think looks to be about the size of a very large briefcase. It’s not that huge, at best a smaller medium size. It’s a great size for my everyday, and fits a full size iPad very well, even with the iPad in an otter box defender and then in a big casefolio. Love this bag.I use the little pocket on the strap that won’t really fit a cell phone very well for a Mophie Juice pack pouch. Works great, I can access all the ports, and recharge it without having to remove it from the pack. All pictures are with a jumbo versipack (that I’ve had for more than a decade, to attest to the quality of Maxpedition workmanship)

Excellent and very easy to upgrade
All I can say is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bag. I almost bought one of the smaller Versipacks, but I'm glad I got this one. One of my major concerns was that I hadn't actually held this in my hands, I was buying off the internet. I didn't actually know how big it would be and what I could fit inside. You should always buy the bag to fit the stuff you want inside it (not the other way around). It turns out that I got lucky and this was the right size. I can fit a full size 15" Macbook Pro in (just barely, and without closing the pulls at the top)!!! My EDC goes into this bag. I have my organizers, I have my first aid kit in the top pocket, and I have my 40 oz hydroflask in the water container holder. Everything I need will fit inside. One thing that doesn't really fit (with all my other gear) inside is extra cloths (like a wind breaker). But that's something that could easily be rigged up with velcro loops and the molly straps. The quality is fantastic. The 1000 denier nylon is perfect! It's tough, fairly stiff, and pretty dirt resistant (wish my truck was!!). I'm impressed by the attention to detail and quality. Glad to see there are still companies out there that care. One other thing that I wanted to mention: I attached carabiners to the zipper pulls for the important pockets. The pulls are fine, but since they are black, as it the bag, and the zippers, and everything else, they are sometimes hard to find, especially if you're in a hurry. Adding the carabiners and having a system for which side the zippers should be on solved that problem. Also, using carabiners of different colors and sizes helps a lot. You get used to the color coding, and attache the bigger carabiners to the zips that you use most.Highly recommended.

EDC bag for the real world
OK I am not a survivor or a prepper, however this bag is used every day, during the week it holds my laptop, mini Thermos and other work stuff, at weekends it has the dogs stuff in it and its handy for my phone and other bits and when i'm on the boat it's filled with pies and butties :). I know this is typically used by the SAS types but trust me, if they ever send me on an SAS mission then the country is in really hot water. On a serious note, The laptop is 13.3 screen, it also fits the Microsoft surface 3 pro and it also fits my 15.6 laptop however I have to take it out of the slip case. so far it has been waterproof however I always put water sensitive items in a wet bag. It does shrug off dirt and stains although you may want to rub wax or wd40 on the zips as they are stiff for the first few uses.I have a 1/2 ltr Stanley flask and this fits in the water pouch just fine. I use a beefy pouch to hold the psu and the other cables. One more thinng the pouch on the top holds the Samsung Note III, my wallet, car keys and the black London Underground plastic wallets (the ones they give away). My advice would be to fill up the bag whilst in your house and then adjust the strap, rather than while your walking around.

Maxpedition - the best you can get.
Over the years I’ve used numerous shoulder/messenger bags to carry kit as I do a lot of walking and cannot wear a rucksack due to spinal injury. This bag is the biggest in the Maxpedition shoulder bag range that I was able to source. The quality is superb. The zips and stitching are very strong. It has numerous compartments to carry all my kit. Very well designed.

King of bags
Absolutely fantastic, the daddy of bags. It is so large yet compact I am sure airlines will bann it's use as carry on luggage. This bag will seriously hold more than you can carry. If you are a traveller or just need a lot of stuff around you this is the bag that leaves both hands free, there is a pocket to suit anything and it sits really well on the shoulder. If you can't get it in the bag you either don't need it or you should have a rucksack.

I would sleep with.
Absolutely perfect solution to my semi-nomadic existence. This is my third Maxpedition bag and all three perform brilliantly in different situations.

Top quality ,lots of useful pockets.
Top quality throw over shoulder bag, with plenty of storage options for various sized items.Too many pockets to mention, and i still keep finding more pockets and recesses,so you`ll be spoilt for choice, excellent. And if you still need more ,you can buy extra pouches to attach to outside with the molle system.
