Review: Amazing Book and passed CCNA in 6 months. - Todd's book goes into all the CCNA objectives for ICND1 and ICND2 for 100-105/200-105 exams. I would highly recommend this as a foundation to get the objectives down but keep would recommend secondary sources sources such as YouTube, Lynda.com, free 7 day trial for CBTNuggets (Lazaro Diaz -amazing teacher), and UCertify to branch more into the objectives required to pass the 200-125 exam. Keep in mind that some objectives are not well detailed so again I would suggest using secondary sources for objectives. His chapters are very well organized. He starts off with the purpose of the concepts as well as going into in hands on CLI demonstrations. At the end of each chapter he will have a summary of what you learned, what you need to know to pass the exam, ten written questions, multiple labs (which can be used with included sim that comes with the book), and 20 review questions. His teaching is easy to understand for those new to networking. Keep in mind he will not go into what is a fiber cable, coax cable, how to crimp network cables, how to use a toner tester or optical refraction test and what is a networking/telecom closet. I would highly recommend studying and passing the Network+ exam first for those who have zero networking enterprise experience beyond setting up a basic home wireless network. This book is strictly for understanding switch and router technology and how to program and troubleshoot them, along with understanding concepts in LANs and WANs. The book will assume you already at the level of Network+. Dont worry about subnetting. His subnetting chapter breaks it down as well. After reading the chapter I am now a subnetting wiz. He even goes into guiding you with mental subnetting examples. For those who have a Lynda account he is also is on Lynda.com only for the ICND1. I wish Todd had CCNP books but I will have to sadly look elsewhere. Again it is a very good book. I emailed Todd Lammle before purchasing the book and was surprised to see him answer some of my questions I had before buying the book. He was very quick to answer within a few hours. Make sure to register an account for free at netcad and get the free Cisco packet tracer download which was all I used to pass the CCNA exam. Make sure to lab daily and to understand the material well. Get the book and good luck to those seeking to becoming CCNA certified. Its possible but you will have to put in the work reading and digesting each chapter along with labbing. Review: Starts out easy then gets hard. I managed to find online videos to help me understand the book better. - EDIT: > I like that it gets straight to the point and doesn't add a lot of unnecessary fluff. I am not a smart guy btw. I just picked this book up hoping to get my CCNA certification. The book is very upfront, the only challenge to it is the time commitment since it's a very long read. There are online tools that go with it as well so that is very helpful. I thought I knew a lot about computers, routing, and networking until I opened this book. I used to set up networks for myself, friends and family for years, that happened to be just really shallow knowledge compared to what this book teaches. Some of the knowledge you may already have will only help a little. But if you apply yourself to learning, and study often, you should be fine, especially if this stuff interests you, and if you are here, you are likely interested in knowing more so you'll probably do just fine if you try. Good luck

Starts out easy then gets hard. I managed to find online videos to help me understand the book better.
EDIT: <<I went on UDEMY and got the Chris Bryant CCNA class to go along with the book. He covers the same material which makes it easier to understand and remember when you go through the book. The book is very organized, I am just dumb when it comes to this stuff.>> I like that it gets straight to the point and doesn't add a lot of unnecessary fluff. I am not a smart guy btw. Not a text book.
I was recommended to buy your study guide for the 200-120 test, since they are a lot a like. I know theres more in the 200-125, but a lot of it's covered in the other test. I am very much happy that I bought your book. Nothing about this book right now is a text book style to me so far. I have a long way to go through this book still, but you have a good way of explaining things. It's not just some boring words on a page, you make good stories so far and keep me very interested as I am reading. So far the information has good stories and metaphors and you write as if you are really speaking to the person. I do how ever wish this came with a e-book, I think your deluxe version does, and it makes sense for extra perks. But wasn't released yet so I went with this one. For others I noticed a few things about the deluxe. It had 100 more flash cards, ebook, some more tests and a few other nice perks. Over all a very well written and put together book. This is the start of my journey I will use this book and your other resources (It's in the book) along with some courses to try and make something with it. Thank you for the book, I am happy that I don't need to read another text book.

Good book but missing digital content
Just from reading the first few chapters I can tell this will be a lot easier to read than the Cisco Press/Odom books. Not that there is anything wrong with those books. They're great informative books they're just not for everyone. I like Lammle's writing style and understand his illustrations well. I would often get lost in the Cisco Press books. There was so much information that I lost the point at times. I don't get that vibe from this book. I really hope to get my CCNA soon and I hope to do it with this book! Thanks Todd! Be forewarned, as of 10/9, ALL the content promised for the book IS NOT available yet. The code you get in the email doesn't work. This doesn't affect my overall rating of the book. The book is so far awesome. However, I'm an eBook kind of guy and would prefer that over printed page right now. This is from the Wiley website: NOTE: Test Bank Availability. We apologize that the Online Learning Environment and practice tests for CCNA Routing and Switching Complete Deluxe Study Guide: Exam 100-105, Exam 200-105, Exam 200-125, 2nd Edition and CCNA Routing and Switching Complete Study Guide: Exam 100-105, Exam 200-105, Exam 200-125, 2nd Edition are not available immediately with the book. We anticipate they will be available to use by the end of October 2016 or sooner. We will post updates here when the availability date becomes clearer.

Nothing short of fantastic
I've been stressing prepping for my CCNA exam but I feel fortunate enough to have stumbled on this book. From the beginning concepts I had struggled with were put in to understandable context, information I was unsure of was clarified, and I've been working on Cisco equipment on and off for years now. This book is also written in a way that keeps me awake, normally I tend to glaze over, but while reading this it just feels like some guy that really knows the material is casually explaining it to you. I genuinely feel that upon completion of this book I'll not only be prepared for the exam, but will have an understanding of the concepts and material behind it benefiting me beyond people I've worked with that just studied to past the test or even cheated their way in to a certification, these people can rarely perform once thrown on to an operational network. This book offers enough foundational and advanced knowledge to build yourself up as a subject matter expert. I cannot express enough how well content is broken down and explained, and how it feels like you're actually learning rather than memorizing. Definitely worth the buy.

Buy it. Learn it. NOW.
If you are not fairly well into networking, Chapter 1 is going to intimidate you. Mr Lammie tests you on some topics at the end of the chapter that are not completely covered until later in the book (mostly chapter 2); and I found at least one review question that the answer key is wrong about. But this is a book of over 1,000 pages that takes you well into the world of Routing and Switching, just writing and editing this volume had to take many months. Maybe there is an error or two, maybe chapter one doesn't flow like I'd like it too - but the fact remains: This book is still tremendously effective. He tells you to forget everything you know about subnetting, as he promises to teach you a better way. Fact is, his 'better way' is so good, I can't remember how I calculated subnets before - but now, I can almost do it all in my head, and I have only had the book 16 days. I am sure this book will enable me to pass the exams, given enough time with the book and with the (strongly recommended) home lab that he suggests you assemble. If you enjoy the journey of learning, and give yourself enough time, this book and a home lab (or at least Cisco's Packet Tracer) should get you the Certification. In any event, you WILL learn routing and switching. Buy it.

Excellent CCNA study guide, though some quiz answers are incorrect.
This book contains all you need for the CCNA. One problem though: a few incorrect answers in the quizzes. For example, Ch.6 question 13 (page 270) - the answer given on page 1008 is incorrect, and a completely non-related explanation is given. The book I have is 2nd Edition. The quizzes in the book are also available online once you register your purchase, which is very convenient. Unfortunately these online quizzes contain even more incorrect answers. Example: Ch.6 question 5 - the answer is correct in the book, but incorrect in the online quiz. Aside from this, it is very well written and easy to follow. I still recommend it as a study resource for the CCNA, just double-check your quiz answers if you suspect something is wrong.

Not the best
I read this book after reading the Official Cert Guide by Wendell Odom and I like that book better than this one. This book seems written to an audience that already knows the basics. In other words it doesn't seem as geared towards complete beginners of the subject. Overall it still mostly explains things and helped me. I just think I would be a little more confused having not read the other book first. Update: The more I read this book the more errors I find. I have found multiple complete contradictions between this book and the official cert guide, which I would lend more trust to. The review question answers for example are sometimes just plain wrong when comparing the questions and answers against the official cert guide.

Please read this before buying
About the book:- The book is amazing, no doubt about that. It covers almost every topic required for taking 200-125 CCNA or 100-105 ICND1 and 200-105 ICND2. It is quite interesting, fluent and not at all boring if you are interested in networking. Todd Lammle has kept it to the point and there is nothing in there that won't be on the exam. Seller and pricing:- Seller: JBCPD Date of Purchase: 4 May 2017 Price on 4 May 2017: Rs. 844.99/- Delivery Date: 8 May 2017 Price on 8 May 2017: Rs. 535/- (price reduced by the same seller and a few others as well) There is uncertainty in the pricing. I bought it for Rs. 844.99/- on 4 May 2017, delivered as expected on 8 May 2017 (Thanks to Amazon). But now, on 8 May 2017, the price has reduced to Rs. 535/-. In addition, the book I received had a plastic cover that was already torn (Picture included). I have already initiated return and refund procedure. I request everyone who writes reviews to please mention their date of purchase and the price of the product on that date. It will be extremely helpful for others to get the best price available.
