Nice colours

The product is amazing quality, but the shades are not as pink as shown (I purchased Light). The blush, which I thought would be more pink, is more orange/coral. The contour is again, a sandy colour. The highlighter is lovely, a warm shimmer. But overall, I was looking for the colour shown in the picture which was more pink than orange. It would be great product if you're looking for a summer bronzer kit.

Face and cheeks

The single thing that for me makes the difference between a flat, dull make-up and a much more visually interesting one is contouring. Yes, it is possible to over-do contouring and finish up with a rather strange, almost surreal look. However, this Beauty Blocks set in Medium by the doyenne of Irish make-up artists Aimee Connolly appears to be designed to help non-professionals to achieve a great, sculpted appearance that has only enhanced my natural facial features. One thing more mature beauty junkies will be all too aware of is that skin loses tone over time. Unenhanced by sculpting and contouring, you're really not making the most of your natural assets. Though I'm not a fan of invasive beauty procedures, I'm a big fan of using make-up in the same way I'd use pens, pencils or paint on paper or canvas to accentuate certain aspects of my face and to play down others. I love experimenting with make-up - and Beauty Blocks is a perfect set for this. In a chic and stylish pink metallic palette with a beautiful 3D effect acrylic coated lid which hints at the 3D potential of the set. Inside the 4 blocks of make-up are sealed for hygiene and a mirror inside the lid is the full size of the palette. On the reverse of the palette, each element is shown along with a basic 'how to use' guide. There's a bronzer, 2 different shades of highlighter and a blush. The bronzer will help to emphasize - or put back - cheekbones where once they were and to minimise a jowly chin if you have one. Of course, where you're creating shadow there needs to be corresponding highlight - which for some purposes may be stronger and for others more subtle, hence the 2 included here. Another premium quality face palette from Aimee Connolly, the shades all complement each other. So experiment - you can't go too far wrong. The price is reasonable in my view. You're getting 12g of high quality product here. As a comparison, a single eyeshadow I currently have in my make-up bag is 2g - so you are getting a decent amount of make-up that blends well and has a good colour payoff. Unsurprisingly, I'd recommend Beauty Blocks - and it would make a gorgeous gift for a friend.
