Advanced Airbrush Art: How to Secrets From the Masters Paperback – June 10, 2005

Really enjoyed the book. It has great tips and is easy to understand and follow the instruction.

I'll start off saying this book is only for motorcycle art. If that's your things and that's all you do this is a ok book. Thing is Craig Fraiser Cheap tricks series of 2 books does it better when you can also interact with him and see the style used in person on YouTube At least once a week every week. But not all is lost this book covers a wide range of styles and segment features a new artist. I my self do custom painting and model/mini painting as a easy steady thing but was looking for more diverse set of surfaces Bristol paper, canvas, maybe clay board or wood or metal powder coat panels. I think it is annoying as heck that you can look all over for a airbrushing book and half the time with no indication whatever on outside it's a how to paint motor cycle tanks is the point I'm making I guess.

I'M LEARNING.

I think it's very good for what it is, but the things is I was not aware it was all about spraying motorcycle tanks. I was thinking,(the way the ads read), it was more generalized surfaces. They are professionally employed airbrushers, but they all have the same M.O., as most all air brushers do. So I guess I'm really rating the honesty of the advertisements here.

Superb book for learning. I only wish this group of ten painters, will do it again, with different subjects...

Ii think it's a really good book. This one includes really detailed step by step of several work and with different artists. They explain how they do to ackomplish the result. Then it's a small interview with every artist, how they got into buissness, what gear they use and so on..All work in the book is painted on motorcycle-tanks. Recommend this one! Nice photos and many of them, easily to follow the procedure.This book fits for people that has some knowledge about aibrushing.

I look forward to using the advance techniques that this book provides.

This book has some good techniques for someone who has some knowledge, but does not have any step-by-step projects for beginners. The step-by-step projects it has are for someone who has some knowledge and experience of painting and airbrushing. It seems nice for this purpose though. I wanted a book for an absolute beginners such as myself. I will keep the book and probably will use it after I learn some about airbrushing. I know some about painting so I can see how this would benefit someone with some skill and knowledge. It shows procedures and tips for painting gas tanks for motorcycles.

First off, it's 'Advanced', so beginners won't get hints on their dagger strokes here! But if you've a bit of experience under your belt, and you've mastered the basics, shading, masking, etc, then this book will help take you to the next level. It has ten different designs from ten different artists.A majority of the designs are set out on custom bike fuel tanks, but a motorcycle helmet and a Boss Hoss trike also get the airbrush 'art attack'. The designs themselves include a few skulls (from the bare skeletal form to a semi flesh covered 'Iron Maiden Eddie' ghoul), a chrome effect eagles head surrounded by flames, a couple of pin-ups, and an embossed metal effect with rivets. There's plenty to learn about giving chrome and metal depth for that realistic 3D effect, layering on realflames, and hair and skintone reproduction.There are up to 6 clear, colourful illustrations on each page with short relevant explanations, and the artist's narrative taking you through the sequence from surface preparation to the final product. They explain their paint and colour choice, mixing ratio's, different air pressures used, masking techniques, and how they build up the colours to get their final desired result. This book is virtually a DVD on paper. There's also interviews with the artists that gives a little of their history, and an insight into why and how they use certain paints, and where they get their ideas from.So if you're painting caricatures or seaside landscapes on t-shirts and fancy the challenge of some custom painting, then this is a definite for your library.
