This was an expensive purchase that I would not make again. The metal strainer works well. The carafe, on the other hand, will dribble coffee all over your counter no matter how slowly or quickly you pour. Absolutely horrible experience. Would definitely not recommend this to anyone, except as a joke gift that you give to someone you don’t like very much.

I was a habitual user of a french press/cafetiere. I changed to a pur over coffee maker because I found that I was getting too many coffee grounds in the coffee and as I get older these don't always agree with me. I drink coffee out of a mug and not a cup and if I want two mugs of coffee I need an 18 - 20 oz jug. This doesn't seem to be a common size and so I was glad to find this Bean envy unit. The jug is borosilicate and will not break if near boiling water is put into it. The filter and filter carrier are stainless steel. The quality is good and the silicone pad on the bottom can be removed for dishwashing. For a given coffee bean and roast the coffee is smoother than it would be from my cafetiere. The filtering is effective but not perfect. A filter paper would be better but for the wat I drink coffee the pour over filter works very well. I'm enjoying the coffee ;-) Is it perfect? Not quite. I wish I knew if I could put the filter assembly in the dishwasher. I always hand wash it but a zap in a dishwasher once in a while would be nice. The quality of the jug is very good. I just wish this was supplied with a "lid" so that I could keep the coffee in the pot warm so that the second mug is hot. Leaving the jug open cools the coffee too much. Putting the filter assembly back on is a bodge which works but I think I'm going to end up cutting a "cork" to size to supply a lid. In the end I have no real complaints. It's good quality, makes good coffee and is easy to use and clean: highly recommended.

I've been experimenting with different types of coffee lately. I was really into cold brew, but it was missing something. The taste was good cold, but heated it just didn't do it for me. I was missing that punch. I saw a video on pour overs and thought maybe this is it? Where have you been all my life? I started measuring the temp of my coffee maker, and realized how lackluster it was. I purchased this filter and carafe set with an electric tea kettle. It starts boiling, I take it off and wait till the boil stops. Then I pour it into my coffee grounds to bloom them for about 30 seconds. Don't cheat yourself out of the smell if it. Heavenly. It's no joke. It truly makes a difference if you bloom, and so does this filter. Then I just fill up the cone with water, stir it a bit and there ya'have it. It makes an amazing cup of coffee. You can make up 20 ounces if you like. It's very easy to clean. Don't leave coffee grounds in to dry though as it stains. I do not put this in the dishwasher. I like the rubber bottom if the carafe. I'll keep an eye on the filter, but it looks sturdy. I think this is a good first time pour over start out.

Hello fellow coffee lovers! I am in love with this pour over brewer and have used it non-stop for the past month or so. I have used many types of metal cones before and do run into clogging issues IF you don't take care of it. I found this information below to be extremely helpful as it has worked for me over the years and I don't have any issues with clogging. Be honest: how often do you clean your coffee brewing equipment? I’m not judging, but I do want to call attention to how important it is to keep your coffee gear clean and shiny. Your Pour Over Dripper is designed to last a lifetime - or longer. If you take care of it, you’ll never have to buy another pour over cone. If you don’t care for it by cleaning it, you’ll run into some serious problems. When your used coffee grounds cool, the natural oils begin to jellify. These oils, though tasty in your coffee, can eventually build up and clog the micro holes that make up the dripper’s filter. When enough holes are gelled over, your coffee suffers. After a long while, the oils can even go rancid, destroying your coffee’ flavor. Luckily, avoiding this coffee doom is easy. IMMEDIATELY AFTER BREWING I know how tempting it can be to leave the dripper on the counter once you’ve brewed your coffee. The aromas rise and find your nostrils, begging you to leave the dripper behind while you enjoy your coffee. However, an immediate cleaning is the best cleaning. It keeps the oils from cooling and plugging up the filter holes and keeps you from having to perform deeper cleanings more frequently. Set your coffee aside for 30 seconds while you do one of two things. Trust me, it’ll be okay. 1. Quickly wash your dripper with a small bit of hot, soapy water. 2. Throw it in the dishwasher and start it. Both of these options are quick, painless, and don’t keep you from your coffee for long. This simple step is going to make your dripper last a lifetime. MONTHLY DEEP CLEAN Even with regular care, your dripper may still collect more stubborn oils and minerals. Calcium is a particularly troublesome mineral. It will build and build despite regular cleaning, especially if your local water source has a high calcium hardness rating. Follow these steps once a month to break down the most stubborn oils and minerals. THE VINEGAR SOLUTION Using vinegar to deep clean your dripper is simple and painless. Since you probably already have vinegar, you don’t need to buy anything special. 1. Submerge the dripper in a 1:3 vinegar:water solution and boil for 20 minutes. 2. Let the solution work its magic as the dripper soaks for for 4-8 hours (overnight is fine). 3. Wash the dripper with soapy water or throw it in the dishwasher to clean away the broken down oils and minerals. THE OXICLEAN SOLUTION Oxiclean provides one of the quickest ways to deeply clean your dripper. 1. Mix 4-5 tablespoons of Oxiclean with enough hot water to submerge the dripper. 2. Submerge the dripper and let it soak for 1 hour. 3. Throw it in the dishwasher or scrub it with soapy water. THE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SOLUTION This solution requires some more intense ingredients, but there’s a chance you already have them lying around somewhere. 1. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of citric acid and hydrogen peroxide per 2 cups of warm water. 2. Mix in some dishwashing soap. 3. Soak the dripper for 4 hours. 4. Clean thoroughly with soapy water or throw in the dishwasher. If you have a dedicated coffee cleaner such as Cafiza or Urnex, feel free to use it for the monthly deep cleaning. A CLEAN DRIPPER IS A HAPPY DRIPPER If you keep your dripper clean, it’ll keep you happy by brewing incredible coffee without any flavor tains. If you let cleaning fall by the wayside, your coffee quality will eventually suffer. Love your pour over cone and it’ll love you back. Happy brewing!

Great product so far, beautiful design, glass seems high quality, size is perfect for me since I just make one cup in the morning. I love how there are no plastic parts in this, it’s all glass and silicone so if you’re looking to detox plastic in your life this is the way to go :)
