Diane Alber Art LLC A Little SPOT of Frustration: A Story about Self-Control

Spoke to many of my students.
I have every Spot book and I always feel like Alber has covered everything. Then more books are released that are exactly what we need in class. With the end of the year upon us and testing season here, you can see the frustration in the kids in classrooms. This book opened up a great discussion about how to handle frustration and made a great connection to the flexible thinking book by Alber. I love that there are different examples of frustrations kids may feel and leads to the conversation to other frustrations they may feel. We wrote down what we have been frustrated by in the last week and they partnered up and helped each other think of ways they could use flexible thinking to flip their thinking. Another hit in our second grade class!

Amazing!
I love this book!! It is a great one to teach your child or students how to manage their frustration/self-regulate.This book and other by Diane Alber are part of my every day SEL curriculum, they are amazing! If we teach young kids how to regulate and manage frustration, we’ll have adults who can self-control and express how they feel in a healthy and productive way ♥️🧠

Spot Books are Spot-On
Another book in the collection of Spot SEL books. My 6yo daughter enjoys reading these Spot books, and the style of writing and teaching within the book make it easy to remember and put into practice what the book teaches (in this case, how to deal with frustration).

Wordy
It’s a bit too wordy for my 4 year old he doesn’t have the patience for this book. The anger book is a lot better. Have to return this one unfortunately.

Great book for kids with big emotions
I have an emotionally impaired child who really struggles with understanding and communicating his emotions. This book along with many of the other "spot" books have given him the language he needs to tell us how he is feeling.
