Quick read, long lasting impact
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read and it did not take long for me to consider and implement the principles that the book discusses. What really resonated with me was the idea that each item has more than just the initial costs....there is the cost to fix it, maintain it, store it, clean it, ect. This has changed the way I have viewed my bargain shopping. I liked the idea that when you have so many items, it overshadows which items and really important and meaningful. The author's differentiation between "success" and "significance" also stood out to me. After reading this book I cleaned out my basement and several closets. I feel less burdened by stuff and more gracious in my giving to others. This is a great first read/introduction to a minimal but meaningful lifestyle.

Quick, Helpful Read
I really love Becker's insight into minimalism. I've been getting into minimalism since late last year, and I've embraced it very quickly -- which in a way made me feel like I was beyond some of the material in this book. It offers solid, sound, and important advice, and I am definitely going to share it with some of my mom friends who haven't fully figured the whole minimalism thing out yet. But, because I had already been sprinting along in my minimalism journey, I felt like I'd already taken many of the suggested actions steps. I did enjoy the reinforcement of the actions I've taken and learning about Becker's personal perspective, though. So it may be a bit "light," but as an upside, it's straightforward, quick, and practical -- which we cluttered, desperate, and stressed parents appreciate! I also appreciated the book's organization, which will make it a great resource to reference when I lose steam or get sidetracked down the road.If you're justing starting out and need to find those first steps to dig yourself out of the clutter, read this book NOW!

Choose Quality. Choose joy. Choose this book.
Clutterfree with Kids should be put in every parents diaper bag as they leave the hospital with their newborn(s).There is nothing more important to myself and my family than the time we spend together. That is oftentimes a challenge due to things we are use to seeing as necessary time constraints such as cleaning the house, organizing photos, fixing broken toys and electronics, etc...Joshua presents the idea of "less is more" as not just a philosophy but a day in, day out way of life. This is the book I wish I could give to my kids grandparents without it immediately insulting them.If you are looking for practical, beginner level ways (and even advanced level ways) of creating more time for your family, more space for what is important, and more relaxation and peace within your home, give Joshua's book a read.As other reviewers mentioned, not only will Joshua help you with practical ideas, but he'll give you the "why" behind doing them. I've found that without the why, habits often don't stick for me.My favorite part of the book was definitely the list of gifts we can give our kids instead of the usual toys and games. If for no other reason, read the book for these genuine, uplifting suggestions.Job well done Joshua. Eager to read anything else you publish.Thank you for sharing your life.

This book got me excited to have less.. brilliant.
Wow.. this was way more than I was expecting.I thought I was buying a book which gave just practical tips on how to declutter my space with children in the midst.Joshua presented minimalism in the most attractive light to me, and I can honestly say, I'm so excited by what my future holds. So many bases were covered, one in particular is dealing with people who don't have the same desire as you to declutter. This is a hard one when I visit my hoarding mother, I can see the clutter directly impacts her stress and happiness level and I wish she would just throw stuff out to release herself. I used to get so angry at her, but now, I'm just going to lead by example. For her to see the contrast between the ease and freedom in my life to hers, one of more–more work, more mess, more stress more wasted money.Joshua, this is one of that world changing ways of living. I hope the whole world can embrace minimalism. A worldwide change may not be seen straight away, but change always has to start somewhere. Thank you for being dedicated to writing a brilliant book.

Grab a highlighter!
If you are looking for a how-to book, this is not it. However, it is a great book for soul searching. It's filled with the author's personal experiences of living a minimalist lifestyle, and incorporates case study options to see how others have taken this philosophy into action (and why).I walked away with a handful of "projects" to work on, along with a few deeper conversation topics to have with my husband. Its best geared towards those who know little about the minimalist lifestyle and encompasses one's whole life and not just for kids.My favorite quote: "There is more joy to be found in owning less than can ever be found in organizing more."It's given me a lot to ponder about the cost of what we own; how things cost much more than the price tag you pay for it--every time we pick it up, put it away, organize it, etc. takes time away from something else we could be doing (spending more quality time with your kids.)

Everyone should read this. I wish I discovered this book much sooner.
Absolutely loved reading this book. Discovered this book after watching the Netflix documentary about Minimalism. So happy I looked into it. This book not only touches on how clutterfree with kids is possible but it addresses personal growth, your relationships, and guides you in such a powerful inspiring way. I couldn't recommend this book more. A huge thank you to Joshua Becker for such a motivational, thoughtout book.

Simple suggestions and great read
This book begins quite practically and offers step by step methods of de-cluttering. Then it focuses on mind-setting and the “why” behind our clutter mentality. Living minimally was initially hard work but once we made it more of a habit it has provided good returns and taken away a lot of stress. This is especially true in a tiny flat in central London with two young children. Our kids have fewer toys and are much more able to push through boredom, plus we clean up less! Win. Becker is very balanced. Worth the read!

Holistic and Realistic
I really enjoyed the author's writing style, it made the book easy to read and engaging. I thought I understood minimalism before reading but now I see it was just one facet that I'd understood. He explains it so well and shows how it isn't really a set recipe for what is minimalist, it goes much deeper than just getting rid of stuff or having a goal for your ideal number or possessions. His focus on living intentionally reallly resonated with me and particularly in regards to parenting.I would recommend this book to any parent or parent to be. Even if you, like I did, think you could never be a minimalist I think you'll find lots of gems in this great book that might change the way you look at stuff but also challenge your priorities.
