I really mean WOW! The Mora Kansbol is WOW in so many ways! It's tough as nails, feels great in my hands, is versatile enough to serve in camp and kitchen, a bushcraft, and an everyday carry knife--if you keep it inside of a carry bag. What I mean by the latter is that it's great but a bit large to carry on your belt if you're an urban dweller. However, for those in more rural settings, this knife wouldn't make most people blink an eye! City guys/gals should consider keeping it inside of a duty bag of sorts. Just my two cents worth. Out of the box sharp! Maybe not razor sharp, but da.. sure sharp enough to shave hair. The Kansbol is thicker at the blade's rear, where heavy duty work can be performed, while narrowing done to a finer point at the front for finer, more intricate cuts and slices. I personally dig Mora's poly sheaths! Lots of people don't, but I'm a minimalist who believes in the K.I.S.S.theory: Keep It Simple Sam! Speaking of the sheath, it has a very nice lockup and sweet fit! That's more good news for guys like me. Get yourself one; you wont regret it!

I'm addicted to the Kansbol. I have at least a dozen bushcraft-style knives and this is the one that my hand reaches for, not the $250 custom-made knife I own. There is something about the combination of a thin, oddly designed blade, the simple but extremely ergonomic handle that just fits my hand perfectly with a grippy material that is much nicer to hold and use than the much more expensive Mora Garberg. I am far from a power user, but I average 3 or 4 times a week using my bushcraft knives. I still like to have some fun and take them through a series of small, backyard tests, mostly fire making. The Kansbol just does everything so easily and perfectly. The blade length, thickness, distal taper...it all shows the centuries of experience in the real world that these Swedes have put into their products. There are some cons. Realistic ones. This is not an Armageddon knife. I don't know about you, but I did just fine through all the past promised Armageddon's. It probably will baton through small-ish logs, but why? That isn't what it's for. It isn't made from the best steel, so it definitely needs resharpening. Small matter in my opinion. This isn't even a "best-for-the-price" review. I think that regardless of price, for a lot of real bushcraft tasks, there are few knives made that can perform as well as the Kansbol. They were recently on sale, so now I have my 3rd, just in case the Armageddon really does come, I should be covered.

I purchased this as a more rugged and specialized knife to partner with my Morakniv companion. It was a completely unnecessary purchase, but having been thrilled with the companion I was curious about this slightly unusual knife. The sheath is a no-frills function over form item. The belt loop looks likely to hold up over time unless I deliberately go out of my way to harm it. The knife sits more deeply (about halfway up the handle) into the sheath, which initially made it tricky to draw, but with a bit of practice I don't really notice it anymore. The tradeoff for any fussiness is that is definitely well-secured, which was a priority for me. My Kansbol came razor sharp. Since it is slightly different than any knife I've used before, I was careful to make sure I knew what I was doing before I started leaning into it more. Compared to the companion: the unusual double grind on the Kansbol supports finer slicing toward the tip, and more robust work toward the handle. It works exactly as intended, and I feel like I can really get after wood near the handle or filet near the tip equally well. It's cool to have that level of confidence in the same knife. In contrast, the companion can do both of those tasks, but slightly less proficiently (for me). The companion also probably covers a lot of "middle ground" tasks between those slightly better than the Kansbol. Personally, I found the grip of the companion slightly more ergonomic (I have a big square hand with short fingers), but the texture of the grip on the Kansbol makes me feel confident in my grip. One thing I've already started to appreciate about Morakniv is that the materials are incredibly tough in such a light package. They almost feel more like toys than tools until you start putting work through them, at which point they command immediate admiration and respect. These are serious knives at great value. I was pretty much sold on Mora after the companion, and the Kansbol solidified my opinion. Bonus: I don't typically buy knives strictly for the aesthetics, but personally think it looks fairly unique and cool while being highly functional! I am aware of the current upswing in people interested in "batoning" with knives - I do not do that, so I cannot speak to it with respect to the Kansbol. I briefly researched the Kansbol versus the Garberg in that respect, but since I couldn't find a conclusive reason to upgrade to the Garberg otherwise and was more interested in what the double bevel on Kansbol could do and its very low weight, I chose it. The value for the price of the Kansbol is high. I may one day try a Garberg just because I'm now curious about Mora's product range overall. I would encourage readers to do their own research if they are interested in survival knives or the roles for each tool. Conclusion: if I were forced to bring one knife and prioritize versatility, it would be a Morakniv companion. For a high-value rugged lightweight upgrade to handle things like woodwork and slicing, the Kansbol is outstanding and is staying on my pack.

At the writing of this review (05 March 2025), I've had this knife for almost 3 years. As a result, I've had the opportunity to use it several times and get a good idea of its quality. Having purchased many camping knives over the years, I can safely say this is one of the best camp side knives, I have ever had. The handle / hilt fit nicely in the hand and offer great feel and balance. It is super sharp, directly out of the box. Because of its size, it may not be the best choice for batoning. However it is a great camp side knife. It will cut small diameter rope, and 550 cord and feather small pieces wood with ease. It pulls double duty as a food prep knife, cutting and peeling fruit and vegetables, while also cutting meat. One thing I did not initially like was the plastic (cheap feeling) sheath. However the sheath grew on me. The design is simple and utilitarian. The sheath has a drain hole in the bottom and loop to attach to your belt. The Swedes nailed it. I highly recommend .

This is one of the best knives on the market today..it’s razor sharp and the 90 degree spine is great for using on a ferro rod….all in all…it’s fantastic

I have a quite few Moras and certainly didn't need any more but I had to give this one a shot for about $30. Fist thing is first. This Kansbol looks intimidating from the side but is actually quite anemic from the top. It tapers off to about a millimeter which does not instill confidence. It's also super light. With that being said it is still pretty tough and can handle most camp/hike/edc chores easily. The 2-stage grind may prove a challenge to maintain but it is sharp out of the box and has maintained its edge after some considerable use. The plus on the grind is that the forward part of the blade will process fish and game quite easily while the base end can handle some tougher jobs including light batoning/splitting. Very light mind you. The knife is perfect for food prep. The Kansbol is interchangeable with every sheath I have for my Garberg including the molle system. There is a bit more friction when used with the stock sheath. The Kansbol handle is rubberized as apposed to the harder plastic handle on the Garberg which makes drawing the blade a bit annoying with the stock belt loop. You need 2 hands to draw it. I tried it with the Garberg sheath with the same result. Hopefully it loosens with more use but I have been using a custom leather with it lately so I may never find out. For $30 worth of Swedish Sandvik with a semi-decent ambi belt sheath it's a great buy based on its versatility. However, for less than half the price you can get a 2.5mm Sandvik Mora companion which will take a bit more abuse with more confidence. I'll still keep it regardless. Will update if anything noteworthy happens...

This Kansbol is an amazing camp or hiking knife. I have a companion robust that is shorter and heavier, and it is nearly impossible to break. The kansbol is lighter, longer, and far better balanced in the hand. It is as light as my crkt folder! It is less fatiguing to use as it feels more like a kitchen knife in its weight balance, and it is almost as usable as a kitchen knife in food prep and cooking. The blade is as thick as a regular companion up to about halfway, so it can do some of the bushcraft and survival techniques on a smaller scale though you do not want to hammer on the tip section. This can notch, feather stick, and carve very well. The front half can food prep and handle game well. At its regular price, it is a still a great do it all knife, but on sale, I do not think this knife has a peer as a general purpose woods knife. I would not feel bad loaning this to family or friends vs. a nice custom knife. This knife + your other favorite larger woods tool, and you can do all the camping and bushcraft very comfortably.

This ticks all the boxes for an all round bushcraft knife for only $30. I know the allure of those fancy wood-handled $200-300 knives calls from the dark recesses of the internet, but don't be fooled. This will do everything those fancy knives can and then some. Why "then some"? Because of the grind. It's the only production knife with a flat grind front and scandi grind back. This means you can slice a tomato or an onion around the campfire with the belly of the knife, and then go back to feather sticking or batoning with the scandi grind portion. It does the work of two knives flawlessly. Yes, the handle is synthetic and not desert ironwood or Bocote, but that's part of its selling point. When it suddenly rains on your hiking trip, you're not frantically pulling of your belt to put that $300 L.T. Wright in your backpack to avoid the handle getting wet and warped. Actually, that grippy rubbery handle feels amazing in use. There are several Finnish knife companies that only use synthetic handles and sell their knives to the military. It aint "cheap plastic", it's functional and understated elegance. Does it cut? Yes sir, it cuts. I processed firewood for hours with this thing over the weekend and there was no discernible edge wear. I was still able to delicately slice a jalapeno and roma tomato after feather sticking and batoning my way through a stack of firewood. 12C27 isn't a supersteel, but it is 'super' great steel. I have custom knives, but this is the go-to. Sometimes you can have function and form in one package, without a big price tag. Oh, and I caved and made a leather dangler sheath for it. Why not...

Un très bon couteau avec lame acier de chez Morakniv Très tranchant avec un manche type nid d'abeille pour une très bonne prise en main et plus léger que le modèle Garberg Ce modèle a la réputation d'être un des plus costaud de la marque et sa lame est particulièrement efficace pour tout travaux avec une émouture bien pensée pour réaliser même des travaux de précisions En résumé je recommande ce modèle qui reste un excellent compromis entre le Garberg et la version Bushcraft !

Da possessore di altri coltelli della Morakniv, ho deciso di acquistare anche questo modello per usi outdoor. Credo che la Morakniv, produca tra i migliori coltelli di questo tipo come rapporto qualità/prezzo. Questo è la rivisitazione del precedente modello Mora 2000, con a mio avviso ulteriori miglioramenti. L'acciaio è lo stesso il classico acciaio inox 12C27 super collaudato. La lama multi uso con una parte con tagliente tipo scandi grind, quindi utile per intagliare e lavorare il legno e la parte anteriore più flat e fine più utile in situazioni in cui è necessario un taglio più pulito penso al cibo, alla pesca e alla caccia. Quindi una lama molto versatile, utilizzabile anche per il cosidetto "batoning" magari in modo più leggero ,non essendo una lama full tang. La parte superiore della lama è stata volutamente lasciata con gli spigoli vivi in modo da poter essere utilizzata con l'acciarino al magnesio e per raschiare sul legno per produrre truccioli da utilizzare per accendere il fuoco. Arriva già molto affilato di fabbrica. Testato in modo veloce intagliando del legno, ma già conosco come tagliano i Morakniv e questo è solo una conferma. Impugnatura con due tipi di plastiche una principale più rigida e una sui bordi più morbida per un miglior grip. Impugnatura quindi molto confortevole io ho una mano taglia L. Hanno aggiunto un foro sulla parte finale dell'impugnatura per l'inserimento di un eventuale laccio.Coltello molto leggero. La custodia in plastica, che molti criticano ma che a me piace molto è fatta in modo da alloggiare il coltello su tutti e due i lati quindi non bisogna preoccuparsi quando lo si inserisce nella custodia stessa. Una volta inserito si sente un clic che lo mantiene bloccato e non esce nemmeno se capovolto, testato personalmente. In fondo alla custodia ci sono due fori per l'eventuale fuoriuscita di acqua...... è poi presente l'attacco della custodia per fissarla su una cintura, Basta inserire la stessa nell'anello di plastica fino a sentire uno scatto. Questo articolo infine è fornito con un ulteriore accessorio, il multimount, che consiste in una attacco in plastica nel quale inserire la custodia che viene bloccata anche dall' inserto con clip di chiusura e da velcro a strappo. Sono presenti due ulteriori strisce di velcro in modo da poter fissare il tutto su uno zaino,o dove si vuole. Ci sono anche dei fori sull'attacco che quindi può essere fissato ad un muro o a una parete, ecc.... Insomma un coltello outdoor molto versatile, utile per tutti gli utilizzi che possono servire nelle attività all'aria aperta, con un prezzo giusto. Ricordandosi sempre che stiamo maneggiando un utensile si, ma anche una "arma bianca" per la legge, quindi solo per giustificato motivo.

El mora kansbol es hasta el momento mi cuchillo preferido con doble filo, scandi y plano, el scandi para trabajos pesados como tallar un palo, hacer batoneo ligero y demás, el filo plano viene genial para desollar animales, cortar comida y hacer trabajos más finos. Viene con el lomo afilado perfecto y muy bueno para usarse con ferrocerio o sacar virutas para iniciar un fuego, la retención de filo es buenísima hasta la fecha sigo usándolo con el filo de fábrica que sigue cortando como diablo, soy de manos grandes y el mango se siente realmente cómodo y no cansa a diferencia de otros cuchillos, la funda engancha perfecto el cuchillo para evitar que se nos extravíe. Lo recomiendo completamente, seguro que ustedes igual lo amarán. :)
