Ordered this last year (2012) and it's still going strong, despite being laid on, knocked around, crushed into trees and walls, and dragged down a paved drive (I work a lot outside on the farm) so I can testify to this watch's durability!! The clip is still attached very tightly, and the light still is strong - - the watch keeps excellent time, although I did have to set it forward about 1 minute since I initially set in last year. The crystal is scratched now, but otherwise it's hanging in there. For me, that's pretty amazing. PROS: Heavy-weight case, tough construction Sturdy clip Attractive and scratch-resistant finish Phosphorescent numerals and dials for night use Bright LED light (red) Keeps good time, battery life excellent Visible when worn (upside down face) CONS: None This thing has already lasted longer than any of my big box store belt watches, so I'm a happy camper. It's not really a CON, but I wish that it had a blue or white LED instead of red (don't really understand the idea of that) but I have to pick at something.

Actually a wonderful watch. I use mine under rough conditions. It won't last forever, but three to four years makes it a value! I will definitely buy another when this one quits!

I bought this clip watch because Dakota will change the battery. I have bought other perfectly good clip watches that were less expensive, but cannot reattach the back after changing the battery, or the new battery slips out of place while trying to reattach the back. It will be inconvenient to do without the watch while it is being repaired, but will save money in the long run because I do not have to throw out the watches because I cannot fix them. The watch itself, is well made and should last.

This looks great hanging from my purse as I am not a big fan of wrist watches. I love the look, it's keeping good time and looks sturdy like it should last a good long time. I am very happy with this purchase.

Just got this so my rating is an initial impression only......cannot say what to expect in the longer term I like the ired LED that is easy to activate & should help me find things....... but also maintain my night vision. It looks like it will be durable and it will clip to my vest, so I don't have added weight on my arm that will be constantly moving around, using energy. It's a fairly inexpensive piece of gear as well. IMO the watch is a compromise ......I would prefer that it had mutli-functional use.....esp. barometric pressure readout over time ....AND a temp gauge would also be a plus. Without these other features, I'm not particularly "wowed" by the watch.......but I do think it's a solid product that should last a long time.

Perfect fit for my fanny pack when running. Not to big, not to small. Easy to set up and easy to read.

A good value to quality price ratio exists for this product! It reminds me of an old Timex commercial which stated, "IT takes a licking and keeps on ticking!" I am pleased with the obvious durability of this watch and the easy readability! I worked with someone who had purchased this watch. It has some cowboy in it, is the best way to describe the tougness!

I have been using Dakota watches for ten years. The first one I bought, the strap fell off because the pin got bent. I figured it was my fault so I bought this one since it is one piece. That one lasted a while so when it got wore out I bought a new one. The new one just FELL APART on me and I have not been rough with it. It was in great condition aside from scratches on the clip mechanism. Apparently I got lucky with the second watch. I contacted the company and they don't offer any warranty for the actual watch (only internal movement) and said I could pay them to fix the watch. I am not going to pay someone to fix a defective product that they sold me. I will never buy a Dakota watch again! Update 10-25-2024 They sent me a message and offered me a new watch. Your customer service could have looked into my case and offered me a new watch. They didn't. You should have a warranty on your watches falling apart. I have suggested this brand to a lot of people and people at my work have even made jokes imitating me checking the time from my belt loop. For belt loop watch shoppers... if you have a bunch of money and you want a nice belt loop watch get this one. But I don't have a bunch of money to spare. I also don't want a free watch.

My husband liked the watch but after two weeks the light didn't work any more.

This clip watch is just perfect. Solid and the clip is sturdy. And the packaging and instructions are very well presented.

Since I'm not able to wear wristwatches (they stop running within hours), I buy clip-on watches which I attach to a zipper tab on my purses. I needed one for a basic canvas purse that gets a lot of hard wear. This watch fits the purpose, but is a lot heavier than the one I used previously on that bag. Someone else might not notice that, but I'm not strong and it adds weight, hanging off my shoulder. It would be ideal for clipping to a hiker's backpack, which is what it was recommended for. Easy-to-read dial, and keeps time well so far. Good quality.
