They work, have now started catching moths
We have 60 box trees, some over 20 years old, mostly infected by caterpillars. At the moment there are very few caterpillars ( have picked hundreds off) but many empty cocoons. I bought two containers plus extra capsules, bit fiddly to put together but online instructions helped . Update on my original comment below, as promised. Nothing up until yesterday but this morning there are 7 moths in the two traps! Not happy they are back but at least some are getting caught. Have changed my review to 5 * as they do work. Might need to buy more though! ( No moths yet after three weeks, only a couple of wasps and a few very small moths/ insects. Bit disappointed but will persevere as maybe the next generation of caterpillars are forming ( three week cycle)? Will update review if things improve ( or not). At the moment it feels like £45 wasted. Also I have had to choose pairs of box trees to protect as lure must be within 2m of them and ours are spread over the garden.)

Useful “radar” to alert you to the next attack !
The pheromone works, moths (male) are attracted and some are caught (and drowned) alerting you to the arrival of another wave. Used in combination with insecticide ( I use a selective bacterial spray) this offers some chance of control. With a large garden you will need several. Even after a month or two the capsules will still be effective, so if replacing just hang the old one in a tree…… as a box vigilante when the moths are active I go round at night with an LED head light, armed with a “ fly zapper” (battery changed insect killer) the box moth is very distinctive and easy to hit. For every one caught in the traps I can get dozens more, and both sexes, circling the traps or in and around the box trees. You will still need to check your hedges/topiary manually to pick off surviving caterpillars and pupae before they do extensive damage! It’s a war and NATO cannot help. Only 4 stars as the traps are a little flimsy and suspended by a treasury tag ! The pheromone refills are pricey but worth it.

This trap works - don't hesitate!
My lovely box hedge has been decimated by these b****y caterpillars, and so we bought this pheromone trap in the vague(!) hope that it might make a difference. It was delivered to us on June 15th, and we put it together and installed it straight away. So, it's been up for just under 4 weeks. During this time it's despatched literally hundreds of moths. I can't easily say hom impressed I am. We weren't expecting much - it seems to collect about 30 every 2 days. We're not out of hte woods yet, but I really wish that every box hedge was protected with one of these - together we could make a real difference. I'm only sorry I haven't got a photo to share to show how effective this is. IMHO it's worth every penny.

Junk - Not a single moth caught
Update - really doesn’t work. No moths caught after several nights next to an infected bush. Not even 1 star. Being returned tomorrow. So, box arrived. I had left it on the side for a couple of days and then opened it. Basically instructions inside are poor. There’s a note to look at a video on a website. No QR code to take you to the video. Not the end of the world but…. The video and webpage instructions are different to the leaflet re height off the ground, how much water to put in and no mention on the box that the pheromone packets should be kept in the fridge or freezer. It didn’t come refrigerated. The device itself obviously went to the lowest bidding manufacturer it’s really really cheaply made. I had to drill out the 4mm holes with a 5mm bit to get the hanger in. The leaflet’s graphic instructions are crap. Video is good for that. Also, another leaflet says go direct for discount. It was £16 delivered on Amazon and is £26 on Plant Pro website. Go figure. It also says season long cover. There’s 12 weeks pheromones (3 months) but literature states moths active between April to October. So that isn’t seasonal long it would appear, I’m no expert however. I’ll come back to tell you if it catches any moths. Not confident at the minute based on all points above. Update - night one next to an actively incected bux ball. Nothing. Not a dickie bird or even a moth.

Ok but odd number of lures
Item is ok but only contains 3 pheromone lures (as indicated in the advertisement). This is an issue because you have to use them 2 at a time so really there should be 4 included. The included instructions refer to 4 being included.

Amazing product
Well, I wasn’t expecting much but as I was so desperate to Salvage our many buxus balls after spending half of last summer spraying and picking off caterpillars, I purchased this. Our village has become infested by this box moth and by the beginning of spring I saw our first worms. I purchased this and stupidly when it arrived, I pushed closeed the lid on the first capsule which resulted in …. You guessed it worms but luckily I read online that someone else had done the same so I changed the pheromone capsule to one of the spares I had in the freezer. Low and behold within a day or two I had caught our first moths. Well this same capsule has caught at least 50 moths a i have changed the water 3 times now which you can see in a picture I’ve uploaded. This capsule has also supposedly expired but I’ve left it as it’s still catching. I will replace it once I see a drop off on caught moths. Honestly, if your struggling this is an amazing product, just don’t clip on the capsule lid any more than when it’s first received If you found this review useful, please give it a thumbs up. Thank you 😊

Was sceptical but doing the job extremely well
Ok they’ve flimsy looking and it’s yet more plastic in the world but they do work. Easy enough to assemble and supplied with extra capsules of the pheromones, stored in the fridge. Haven’t had much damage to the box hedging so wasn’t expecting many moths but we put two of these up a month ago and have trapped around 40 moths. Just cleaned the traps and and renewed the pheromone capsule, the photos show the next two nights’ results. The trap hanging in tree directly above the hedge catches most. We’re using them as an indicator for when to search for and remove the caterpillars. Very pleased.
