How do the small spikes retract? Is it something I can adjust quickly when going in/out of someone's house?

Just press and twist the button in the middle of the metal spikes . Its easy and quick

I love this, but the spikes sometimes release down for no apparent reason. Yes, I turn the switch counter-clockwise. Suggestions?

I have this same problem as well. No solution other than to reset the spikes back up into the cap? Also I have a problem with snow and ice pack making the spikes almost useless. I have to use my house key or such to frequently clear the spikes of ice so that they may do there job.

Do they fit all canes ??

Yes, 99% of all canes ... If it doesnt fit perfectly, it comes with an adjustment so that it does!

Can you expand on how these crutch tips retract for indoor use? i assume they fit ergobaum 7g, and i would need to order two for crutches?

hello, These tips have a twisting mechaanism in the bottom of the tip. If you twist the button, spikes will release. When you want to retract them, you push and twist and they will retract again on the inside of the tip. For crutches, please order 2 units, for canes, you only would need 1. Best, Team Ergoactives
