I always get whatever seems like the very best as they eat so little that you can definitely afford to get the highest rated foods. My Siberian dwarf hamsters love this food...almost entirely. They do not like the pellets that are in it and use them as "litter" to urinate in. I feel that this food is grossly overpriced. I can get 50 pounds of Mazuri rat breeder pellets for the same price as 12 pounds as this food. There is no waste with the rat pellets and my rats and mice eating it. Does this food keep the hamsters healthy? Yes. My hamsters live a normal life expectancy of 1.5 to 2 years. However, the less expensive Kaytee foods, that also have waste, have kept my Syrian Hamsters(teddybear) alive PAST expectancy. The pieces of Kaytee are large, and will not fit in the mouth pouches of the dwarfs, and so it is necessary to get the smaller food for them. I just feel that it is priced far too high for animal quality grains, and there is too much waste. If there were another brand Available, such as the National Geographic brand, I would likely buy that since it had less waste for the price. I continue to buy it because there is no competition with small sized food pieces that is designed specifically for hamsters. I have given them birdseed, and "mouse food". I am considering giving them rodent blocks to cut costs. They will likely live as long, and waste far less food.

This is the best feed for my pet mice! The percentage of protein is not too high!
