Great, Great Product
I am so happy with this product. I purchased outdoor smart plugs from another manufacturer. They will hard to pair & connect to my router and the app never worked correctly--so I've returned them. The Kasa Outdoor Smart Plugs immediately connected to my router. The Kasa App works perfectly and could not have been easier to program. And more importantly, everything works as they should! Note that I have other Kasa products and they also work great.

easy set up and just set it and forget it
The Kasa Outdoor Smart Plug is an absolute game-changer for anyone looking to simplify their outdoor setup. With its Wi-Fi connectivity, 15A/1875W max load capacity, and smart timer features, it’s perfect for managing holiday lights, garden equipment, or any outdoor electronics. What I love most is how easy it is to control remotely through the Kasa app or voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant. Going out of town? No problem! You can schedule timers or turn devices on/off from anywhere, giving you peace of mind and saving energy. The setup is quick, and the dual outlets are super convenient for multiple devices. The build feels durable and weather-resistant, so it’s great for year-round use. If you want a reliable, smart outdoor plug that makes life easier especially when traveling this is the one to get.

does the job
I have several of these. They all work great. Easy to set up and full compatible with Alexa. I set up Alexa routines to turn my Christmas light on and off. Reliability has been good, rain or shine, summer and winter.

Kasa Good
Product: Kasa / TP-Link Outdoor Smart Plug, single outlet, model KP401 Gist: overall I like it and would get it again although I'd actually get the one with 2 plugs instead Good: Kasa Smart app works good, the Kasa/TP-Link products are good quality and good function with the Kasa App or the Alexa App and Echo devices, actual setup of the plug was very simple and easy - just select it in the Kasa app and then go into Alexa and it already has it ready to go without even doing anything. Not so good: you have to have the Kasa Smart App on your phone, you need a username and password, the unit is not waterproof - it is weather proof - that means no direct water contact I'm pretty sure. It is designed to be plugged into the outlet and for the unit to hang down by the cord about 7 inches with the actual socket facing the bottom. That way rain will not enter, just run off the sides. Just keep that in mind when determining if this style plug will fit into your scenario. Details: My first smart plug was a Kasa/TP-Link product that I purchased off Amazon in 2017 and in 2024 it is still operating perfectly with Alexa/Echo so I expect this item will also last a few years. Since I already had a Kasa account setup in 2017 all I had to do was login and add this new device. Well, I haven't accessed that account since 2017 and haven't had the Kasa app on my phones since then either. I've just been using the Echo devices to control my Kasa devices ever since initial setup years ago. So here is the process for me to setup this device: First: Like most smart devices you need the 2.4 GHZ band of your internet router to be active along with the 5 GHZ all the time. 1. download the Kasa Smart App onto my phone (I ditched Apple so I use the Android version now) 2. open the Kasa App - it will want a login before anything else can be done. If you have an existing account and don't know your username or password then just click recover option and it will send a link to your email it has on file. Use the link to reset the password. I actually had my password written down but I think since its been years since I logged in it was disabled and that's why I had to do the reset. 3. After you login to the app, just click the plus sign for add device and scroll through the types to select your Outdoor Plug and then the KP401. 4. Assign a group or routine in the Kasa App if you want 5. Once you're done with the Kasa app if you go into the Alexa app it should be already setup and ready to use. I didn't give it 5 stars because everything can always be better and I think the amount of cord this hangs by should be shorter. For some reason they didn't think so. It works well but looks a little clunky in my patio scenario.

reliable, flexible, SMART
Kasa makes great smart plugs and dimmers and this one does not disappoint. I have the in-wall switches as well, and the software is among the best I've used. fully compatible with Google Home and responsive to voice commands but what I really like is the ability to set an on/off timer to turn at sunset at the brightness I want, and to never worry about re-setting throughout the year. This is my second purchase of this item. It controls my string cafe lights perfectly.

Easy and Alexa enabled
I recently purchased the 2 Kasa Outdoor Smart Plug and have been extremely happy with it! I’m using it primarily for my outdoor string lights, and it has completely elevated my setup. The installation was super easy . I had it connected and running in just a few minutes. I love that it is Alexa enabled, so I can turn my lights on and off with simple voice commands or through the app without having to step outside. Beyond lighting, I’ve also started using it for my holiday decorations, and the ability to schedule them automatically has been a game-changer. The build feels sturdy and weather-resistant, which gives me confidence it will last through the seasons, even during rain or snow. The dual outlets allow me to control two separate devices independently, which adds a lot of flexibility to my setup. The Kasa app is intuitive and provides options like timers, schedules, and remote access, which makes managing my outdoor spaces effortless. Overall, I highly recommend the Kasa Outdoor Smart Plug for anyone looking to add convenience, automation, and smart control to their outdoor spaces! It truly transforms how you manage your garden lights, seasonal décor, and other outdoor electronics.

Great plug. It is smart.
Works great. I habe it outside used for backyard string lights, on of, and dimming on timers based on regular routines and habits. This has allowed for lots of use and flexibility. I did have disconnect and reconnecting issues for a brief period but I think that may have been because we got other smart devices afterwards by a partnering company or something the app would try to connect it. But that was easily fixed.

Works awesome. I’m using it for my outdoor water heater, because I bought the heater from a garage sale and didn’t realize it was actually designed more for enormous stock tanks, and was way too much heater for my goats’ water bucket. Before I had this dimmer, the water was always steaming and evaporating and I’d have to go replace their water every day, but now I have it set at 20% and it just stays melted perfectly, and only have to bring more water out every 3rd or 4th day. I will say it was a bit tricky to set up, because it’s just so high-tech. I had to make an account, and then connect the device to my home’s wifi, and that didn’t work initially when I was trying to set it up outside, because the outdoor outlet I was plugging it into was about 60’ from my house (and wifi hub), so I plugged it into an outlet in my house and THEN did the set up, and then took it outside and plugged it into my water-heater, and that worked. If I wanted, I think I could set it up to dim-or-not-dim on a schedule, so I’ve purchased a second one, and I’m going to put my chickens’ coop light on that one, because I have a huge florescent light in their coop that I think is wasting a lot of power, and then set it to go on and off at sunrise and sunset. I feel like this thing is so affordably priced for what it’s capable of. (I paid about $19) Very impressed with it.
